Daniel Rowland (preacher)
Daniel Rowland (also spelt Rowlands, 1713 – 16 October 1790) served as an Evangelist and early on as an Anglican curate. He was one of the foremost figures in the Welsh Calvinistic Methodist revival, along with the evangelist Howell Harris and the hymnist William Williams. For 55 years Daniel Rowland was one of the leading evangelists in Wales. Curacies Rowland was born in Nantcwnlle, Ceredigion, in either 1713 or 1711. For most of his life he was curate in the parishes of Nantcwnlle and Llangeitho. Following his conversion by Griffith Jones, Llanddowror, in 1735, he became renowned as a preacher and made Llangeitho memorable as a centre for Calvinistic Methodism in Wales. The Anglican Church authorities deprived him of his Nantcwnlle curacy in about 1763, an action which was unpopular with parishioners. Following this, he established a Methodist "cause" in Llangeitho, and by 1770 was said to be attracting congregations of over a thousand, making it necessary to preach out ... Daniel Westcar Rowland (born 3 May 1984) is a Zimbabwean long-distance trail runner. He competes in ultra marathons and multi-day stage races around the world. Early life and education Rowland was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe on 3 May 1984. He attended Whitestone School and Christian Brothers College, Bulawayo (St Patrick's). He studied Business Science at the University of Cape Town, graduating with First Class Honours in 2007. He worked for Anglo American plc in the finance division from 2008–2012. He became a full-time ultra runner in 2012. He lives in Blonay, Switzerland. Triathlon Rowland started triathlon at an early age and won his first triathlon at the age of 11. From 1999–2001 he won the Junior National Zimbabwe Triathlon. He was elected to represent the Zimbabwe Junior Triathlon team in 2001, and in 2003 he was elected Captain of the National Team.
