Daniel J. Griffin
Daniel Joseph Griffin (March 26, 1880 – December 11, 1926) was a lawyer and Democratic politician from New York. He was a U.S. Representative from 1913 through 1917. Biography He was born in Brooklyn, New York, attended parochial schools there, and then St. Laurent College near Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and St. Peter's College in Jersey City. Legal career Griffin graduated in law from the New York Law School. After he was admitted to the bar in 1902, he commenced practice in Brooklyn. Between 1903 and 1906, he also served as commissioner of licenses for the Borough of Brooklyn. After that he was head of the administration and guardianship departments of the Surrogate's Court of Kings County from 1906 to 1912. New York's 8th Congressional District
New York's 8th congressional district for the US House of Representatives is in the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens. Its current representative is Hakeem Jeffries. From 1993 to 2013, the district covered much of the west side of Manhattan and western coastal sections of Brooklyn. However, after decennial redistricting, it was redrawn to take in much of the territory previously in the 10th district.
