Daniel Flynn (footballer)
Daniel Flynn (born 24 September 1994) is a Gaelic Footballer from Kildare and former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Port Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Originally from a farm near Johnstownbridge, Flynn trialled with Port Adelaide in the AFL early in 2014 and played in a NAB Challenge pre-season match against the Adelaide Football Club, in a losing effort. This was one of Flynn's first games of Australian rules football, let alone his first game in an AFL sanctioned competition. Flynn was assigned to Port Adelaide's SANFL team before returning to Ireland in March 2014. 2014 SANFL Season
The 2014 South Australian National Football League season (officially the SANFL IGA League) was the 135th season of the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) Australian rules football competition. 2014 introduced a number of changes to the league. The size of the league increased from 9 clubs to 10 clubs, after the South Australian Football Commission granted the Australian Football League's Adelaide Football Club a licence to field a reserves team in the competition. Adelaide Oval replaced Football Park as headquarters of the SANFL, resulting in the renovated venue hosting one SANFL minor round match (Anzac Day) and all six SANFL finals matches. The season was shortened to finish a week before the AFL Grand Final, instead of a week after, as had been the case for most years since 1980. 2015 AFL Season
The 2015 AFL season was the 119th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured eighteen clubs, ran from 2 April until 3 October, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top eight clubs. The premiership was won by the Hawthorn Football Club for the 13th time and third time consecutively, after it defeated by 46 points in the 2015 AFL Grand Final. The season was marred by the mid-season death of senior coach Phil Walsh, who was killed by his son in a domestic incident. Adelaide's following match was cancelled. The Adelaide Crows (officially the Adelaide Football Club) are a professional Australian rules football team based in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1990. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. The 2014 NAB Challenge was the Australian Football League (AFL) pre-season competition that was played before the 2014 season. It featured 18 practice matches played over 18 days, beginning February 12 and ending March 1. Unlike previous years, the 2014 competition did not have a Grand Final or overall winner. Johnstownbridge
Johnstownbridge ( or ''Droichead Baile Sheáin'') is a commuter town located in north County Kildare, Ireland. It lies in the parish of Cadamstown, in the district of Balyna, and barony of Carbury. It is located on the R402 road between Enfield and Edenderry just off the M4 motorway. As of the 2016 census, Johnstownbridge had a population of 683 people, up from 211 in the 2002 census.
