Daniel Figueroa
Daniel Figueroa (born February 19, 1983) is a professional baseball outfielder, who is currently with the Spain national baseball team. Daniel played baseball at Gulliver Prep High School and the University of Miami. He was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 40th round of the 2004 MLB Draft but did not sign and by the Baltimore Orioles in the 43rd round of the 2005 MLB Draft. He played in the Orioles farm system through 2010 and spent 2011 in the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball. Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases. As an outfielder, they normally play behind the six players located in the field. By convention, each of the nine defensive positions in baseball is numbered. The outfield positions are 7 (left field), 8 (center field) and 9 (right field). These numbers are shorthand designations useful in baseball scorekeeping and are not necessarily the same as the squad numbers worn on player uniforms. 2013 World Baseball Classic
The 2013 World Baseball Classic (WBC) was an international professional baseball competition, held from March 2 to March 19, 2013. This was the third iteration of the WBC, following the two previous tournaments, held in 2006 and 2009. Unlike the two previous WBCs, which consisted of the same sixteen countries, only the twelve countries that won at least one game in the 2009 WBC were guaranteed a berth in the main tournament. The automatic qualifiers were Australia, China, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Puerto Rico, South Korea, the United States, and Venezuela. Four qualification brackets were held in late 2012 and respectively won by Canada, Taiwan, Spain, and Brazil, who joined the WBC as the final four teams (the latter two making their Classic debuts). Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. Francisco "Paco" Figueroa (born February 19, 1983) is an American former professional baseball second baseman and current coach. He is the first base, outfield, and base running coach for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB). Baseball career Figueroa was born in Miami, Florida. He played baseball at Gulliver Prep High School and was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 42nd round of the 2001 MLB Draft but did not sign, opting instead to attend the University of Miami. In 2003, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League, and returned to the league in 2004 to play for the Bourne Braves. The American Association of Professional Baseball is an independent professional baseball league founded in 2005.
