Daniel B. Zimmerman Mansion, also known as Manor Hill, now The Georgian Inn of Somerset, is a historic mansion located at Somerset Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. It was designed by noted Philadelphia architect Horace Trumbauer and built in 1915. It is a 3-story, brick Georgian Revival style mansion, with a five bay central section with a hipped roof, flanked by asymmetrical wings. It has housed a hotel since 2010. Somerset Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania
Somerset Township is a township in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 12,165 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Metropolitan Statistical Area and encompasses the census-designated place (CDP) of Friedens. History Somerset Township was formed from the northern portion of Milford Township and a southern portion of Quemahoning Township in 1796. Jefferson Township was separated from Somerset Township in 1847. Other townships and boroughs were also separated, reducing the township to its current boundaries. The Walter's Mill Bridge and Daniel B. Zimmerman Mansion are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Horace Trumbauer
Horace Trumbauer (December 28, 1868 – September 18, 1938) was a prominent American architect of the Gilded Age, known for designing residential manors for the wealthy. Later in his career he also designed hotels, office buildings, and much of the campus of Duke University. Trumbauer's massive palaces flattered the egos of his " robber baron" clients, but were dismissed by his professional peers. His work made him a wealthy man, but his buildings rarely received positive critical recognition. Today, however, he is hailed as one of America's premier architects, with his buildings drawing critical acclaim even to this day.
