Daniel Adams (physician)
Daniel Adams (September 29, 1773June 8, 1864) was a noted physician, textbook author, and state legislator. He was born in Townsend, Massachusetts to Daniel Adams and Lydia Taylor Adams in 1773. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1797, and received his M.D. in 1799. He married Nancy Mulliken in 1800, and began the practice of medicine in Leominster, Massachusetts that same year. He was chosen to deliver the eulogy for George Washington at the memorial service in Leominster. According to some accounts, this version was so popular that the town council had it printed and distributed free to the entire town. With Salmon Wilder he published the weekly newspaper ''Telescope'' from 1800 through 1802. Around 1805, he moved to Boston, Massachusetts, taught at a private school, and edited the monthly magazine ''Medical and Agricultural Register''. Dan Adams (born October 20, 1984) is a former American football linebacker. Adams attended the College of the Holy Cross, where he holds the current NCAA record for most unassisted tackles in a game (21) against Colgate University on October 22, 2005. An undersized middle linebacker, Adams led the NCAA in 2005 in unassisted tackles (91) and finished 9th all time in total tackles at College Holy Cross (317). Following graduation and the end of his collegiate career, Adams represented the US National Team in the 2007 IFAF World Championships in Kawasaki, Japan. Daniel Benjamin Adams (born 3 January 1976) is an English former professional footballer who played as a defender. Career Adams turned professional in 1999 and played for clubs including Macclesfield Town, Stockport County and Huddersfield Town. On 12 January 2007, the Huddersfield manager Peter Jackson told Adams along with two other teammates (Paweł Abbott and Martin McIntosh) that they were for sale. Daniel Lucius "Doc" Adams (November 1, 1814 – January 3, 1899) was an American baseball player and executive who is regarded by historians as an important figure in the sport's early years. For most of his career he was a member of the New York Knickerbockers. He first played for the New York Base Ball Club in 1840 and started his Knickerbockers career five years later, continuing to play for the club into his forties and to take part in inter-squad practice games and matches against opposing teams. Researchers have called Adams the creator of the shortstop position, which he used to field short throws from outfielders.
