Dania Khatib
Dania Khatib ( ar, دانية الخطيب; born February 13, 1973) is a Lebanese singer and actress. She began her career as a TV presenter for a local station in Lebanon. She joined Channel V in 1995, becoming the first Arabic VJ on an international TV channel. In 1998, she left Channel V to join Abu Dhabi TV where she presented the Arabic entertainment program ''Zoom'', for which she received the silver award for "Most Entertaining Arabic Program" at the Cairo TV & Radio Festival, 1998. Dania now presents ''Al Qafila'', a travel program for Abu Dhabi TV. As a musician she records under the name of Dania. Her debut single, "Yalla Bina", was released in October 1996. Her self-titled album, ''Dania'' was released in September 1997. A second album, ''Dania II'', was released in June 1999. Channel '' ("V" standing for the letter, not the Roman numeral "5") is a Chinese and former Asian pay television musical network originally launched by Star TV Hong Kong (now Fox Networks Group Asia Pacific). It was part of the unit of Disney International Operations, and was launched back in September 1991 to replace the first incarnation of MTV's Asian operation before it was shutdown on October 1, 2021. A video jockey (abbreviated VJ or sometimes veejay) is an announcer or host who introduces music videos and live performances on commercial music television channels such as MTV, VH1, MuchMusic and Channel V. Origins The term "video jockey" comes from the term "disc jockey", "DJ" ("deejay") as used in radio. Music Television (MTV) popularized the term in the 1980s (see List of MTV VJs). The MTV founders got their idea for their VJ host personalities from studying Merrill Aldighieri's club. Aldighieri worked in the New York City nightclub Hurrah, which was the first to make a video installation as a prominent featured component of the club's design with multiple monitors hanging over the bar and dance floor. A boy band is loosely defined as a vocal group consisting of young male singers, usually in their teenage years or in their twenties at the time of formation. 911 (pronounced "nine one one") are an English pop group consisting of Lee Brennan, Jimmy Constable and Simon "Spike" Dawbarn. They were formed in London in 1995 and released their debut single "Night to Remember" in May 1996. This was followed by their debut album ''The Journey'' in March 1997, which was certified Gold by the BPI in November 1997. 911 released two more Silver-certified albums, '' Moving On'' and '' There It Is'', in 1998 and 1999, respectively.
