Dancing With The Stars (American Season 23)
Season twenty-three of '' Dancing with the Stars'' premiered on September 12, 2016, on the ABC network. On November 22, 2016, Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez and Valentin Chmerkovskiy were announced the winners, while IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess finished in second place, and Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson Jr. and Lindsay Arnold finished third. Cast Couples The first eight professional dancers were revealed on '' Good Morning America'' on August 23, 2016: Lindsay Arnold, Sharna Burgess, Witney Carson, Artem Chigvintsev, Val Chmerkovskiy, Sasha Farber, Allison Holker, and Gleb Savchenko. Later, other returning dancers were announced: Emma Slater, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Derek Hough, and Cheryl Burke. Jenna Johnson was the only new pro this season, having previously been a member of the troupe. Keo Motsepe returned, but as a member of the show's dance troupe. Sharna Burgess
Sharna May Burgess (born 21 June 1985) is an Australian ballroom dancer who is best known for being a professional partner and troupe member on the ABC series ''Dancing with the Stars''. She is the winner of season 27 of American television show ''Dancing with the Stars'' with her celebrity partner Bobby Bones, where she has also been a runner-up in several other seasons. She has also been a judge on the Australian version of the show since 2019, along with Craig Revel Horwood and Tristan MacManus. Keoikantse Motsepe (born 24 November 1989) is a South African dancer. His dancing styles are Latin and Ballroom. He is known for being the first black professional dancer on the ABC show ''Dancing with the Stars''. She first gained attention in 2013, as she finished ladies' third runner-up on ''So You Think You Can Dance'' season 10. Johnson continued her professional dancing career on ''Dancing with the Stars'', winning her second season with her partner, Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon. Derek Bruce Hough (; born May 17, 1985) is an American professional Latin and ballroom dancer, choreographer, actor and singer. Maksim "Maks" Aleksandrovich Chmerkovskiy ( uk, Максим Олександрович Чмерковський ; born January 17, 1980) is a Ukrainian-American Latin–ballroom dance champion, choreographer, and instructor.
