The song was written by Enrique Iglesias, Bilal "The Chef" Hajji, AJ Junior, Pitbull and RedOne, who also produced the song. At the time of the song's production, Lopez was unsure whether or not the song would be the lead single from a greatest hits album, or a new studio album. "Dance Again", an uptempo dance-pop and electropop song, features Lopez singing about wanting to dance and love, and it contains several sexual innuendos.
