Dana Pagett
Dana P. Pagett (born March 29, 1949) is an American retired professional basketball player who spent one season in the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a member of the Virginia Squires during the 1971–72 season. He attended University of Southern California where he was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers during the eleventh round of the 1971 NBA draft. After that season he signed with the Portland Trail Blazers, but was released before the start of the 1972–73 National Basketball Association (NBA) season. He was an assistant coach for the Loyola Marymount Lions, Long Beach State 49ers and Utah State Aggies men's basketball teams. Virginia Squires
The Virginia Squires were a basketball team based in Norfolk, Virginia, and playing in several other Virginia cities. They were members of the American Basketball Association from 1970 to 1976. The team originated in 1967 as the Oakland Oaks, an ABA charter franchise based in Oakland, California. They moved to Washington, D.C. as the Washington Caps in 1969 but moved to Norfolk the following year, becoming the Squires. A regional team, they played home games in Richmond, Hampton, and Roanoke as well as Norfolk. The team folded in 1976, just a month before the ABA–NBA merger. In Oakland The Squires were founded in 1967 as the Oakland Oaks, a charter member of the ABA. The team colors were green and gold. Long Beach State 49ers Men's Basketball
The Long Beach State Beach men's basketball team represents California State University, Long Beach in Long Beach, California. The school's team competes in the Big West Conference. The team last played in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament in 2012. The Beach are currently coached by Dan Monson. Long Beach State officially changed their nickname with the NCAA to "Beach" from "49ers" prior to the 2019–20 season. In the 2006–07 season, the 49ers finished with a 24–8 (12–2) record, the Big West conference championship, and the school's first trip to the NCAA tournament in 12 years.
