Dana Carey
Henry Dana Carey (February 3, 1903 – March 22, 1976) was an American football player. A native of California, Carey attended the University of California, Berkeley. He played college football for the California Golden Bears football team and was selected by ''Liberty'' as a first-team player on the 1925 College Football All-America Team. He also received All-American honors in 1925 from the Associated Press (3rd team), the All-America Board (2nd team), and '' Collier's Weekly'' (2nd team). While in college he was initiated into Sigma Pi fraternity. In 1926, he played professional football for the Los Angeles Wildcats in the first American Football League. Guard (American Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center and the tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. Sigma Pi
Sigma Pi () is a collegiate fraternity with 233 chapters at American universities. As of 2021, the fraternity had more than 5,000 undergraduate members and over 110,000 alumni. Sigma Pi headquarters are in Nashville, Tennessee. The fraternity was founded on February 26, 1897, by William R Kennedy, James T Kingsbury, George M Patterson, and Rolin R James at Vincennes University. The group was initially known by the Greek letters Tau Phi Delta (ΤΦΔ), but was renamed Sigma Pi in 1907. The change of name was instigated by Robert George Patterson, then a student at Ohio State University. Patterson had wanted to join the Sigma Pi literary society at Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois, but the latter group had rejected his request to expand to OSU. El Cerrito (Spanish for "The Little Hill") is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States, and forms part of the San Francisco Bay Area. ''Collier's'' was an American general interest magazine founded in 1888 by Peter Fenelon Collier.
