Dan Waern
Dan Waern (born 17 January 1933) is a retired Swedish middle-distance runner, who in 1957 became the first Swede to run a sub-four-minute mile A four-minute mile is the completion of a mile run (1609 m) in four minutes or less. It was first achieved in 1954 by Roger Bannister, at age 25, in 3:59.4. As of April 2021, the "four-minute barrier" has been broken by 1,663 athletes, and is n .... The same year he was awarded the Svenska Dagbladet Gold Medal. Waern competed in the 1500 m at the 1956 and 1960 Olympics and finished fourth in 1960. Earlier in 1958 he won a silver medal at the European championships over 1500 m and set a world record in the 1000 m. In 1961, he was disqualified by the IAAF for professionalism. Waern held Swedish titles in the 800 m (1958–60) and 1500 m (1956–61). Edy Sixten Jernberg, known as "Sixten", (6 February 1929 – 14 July 2012) was a Swedish cross-country skier and one of the most successful cross-country skiers of all time. Richard Dahl (also known as Rickard Dahl; 5 August 1933 – 8 August 2007) was a Swedish track and field athlete who competed in the high jump. His short-lived career was defined by a surprise win at the 1958 European Athletics Championships in a Swedish record of .
