Daniel Frank Barron-Sullivan (born 9 June 1960 in Kuching, Sarawak) is an Australian former politician. Political career He was a Liberal member and later an independent member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly representing the electorate of Mitchell now known as the electorate of Leschenault from December 1996 to September 2008. From 2001 to 2005, Sullivan was the Western Australian Liberal deputy leader, under the leadership of briefly Richard Court and then Colin Barnett. Sullivan quit the Liberal Party in 2008 after losing his seat in an electoral redistribution and expressed dissatisfaction with current Liberal party leader Troy Buswell Troy Raymond Buswell (born 19 March 1966) is a former Australian politician who was a Liberal member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 2005 to 2014, representing the seat of Vasse. Electoral District Of Mitchell (Western Australia)
Mitchell was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. It existed from 1983 to 2005 and, under the name Leschenault, continued until 2008. History Mitchell was created at the 1982 redistribution and was named for Sir James Mitchell GCMG, former Premier (1919–1924; 1930–1933) and Lieutenant-Governor of Western Australia (1933–1951), who was born in Dardanup within the original boundaries of the electorate. It was first contested at the 1983 election. The district was initially a reasonably safe Labor seat based in the eastern and southern suburbs of the regional city of Bunbury, but as Bunbury grew, the seat contracted in size and moved northwards, centring on Australind. The seat then switched to the Liberal Party's Dan Sullivan, who held it until its abolishment. The Western Australian Legislative Council is the upper house of the Parliament of Western Australia, a state of Australia. It is regarded as a house of review for legislation passed by the Legislative Assembly, the lower house. The two Houses of Parliament sit in Parliament House in the state capital, Perth. Effective on 20 May 2005, for the election of members of the Legislative Council, the State was divided into 6 electoral regions by community of interest —3 metropolitan and 3 rural—each electing 6 members to the Legislative Council..
