Dan McCrudden
Dan McCrudden is a retired American soccer forward who played in the North American Soccer League and American Soccer League. McCrudden attended Rhode Island University where he played on the soccer team from 1974 to 1977. He led the team in scoring all four seasons and was a 1977 Honorable Mention (third team) All American. In 1998, he was inducted into the Rams Hall of Fame. In 1978, the Chicago Sting selected McCrudden in the first round (16th overall) of the North American Soccer League draft. He played one season with the sting, and another five seasons in the American Soccer League where he was a 1980 All Star. Forwards (also known as attackers) are outfield positions in an association football team who play the furthest up the pitch and are therefore most responsible for scoring goals as well as assisting them. Chicago Sting
The Chicago Sting (1974–1988) was an American professional soccer team representing Chicago. The Sting played in the North American Soccer League from 1975 to 1984 and in the Major Indoor Soccer League in the 1982–83 season and again from 1984 to 1988. They were North American Soccer League champions in 1981 and 1984, one of only two NASL teams (the New York Cosmos) to win the championship twice. The Sting were founded in 1974 by Lee Stern of Chicago and competed in the NASL for the first time in the 1975 season. A few years after founding the Sting, Stern brought Willy Roy on as head coach. Roy coached the Sting for the remainder of their outdoor existence. The team was named in reference to the popular 1973 film, ''The Sting'', whose action was set in Chicago of the 1930s. New York Apollo
The New York Greeks was an American soccer club based in New York City that was a member of the American Soccer League. The team began as the amateur Greek-Americans. The club played lower Premier Division of the German American Soccer League which was based in the New York metropolitan area. The team won the Premier Division championship in 1950/51 and was promoted to the upper Major "Big 12" Division for the following season. Following their last place finish in the 1953/54 season, the club was relegated. The team was again promoted to the upper division for the 1960/61 season.
