Dan McAuliffe
Daniel McAuliffe (1933 – 9 March 1999) was an Irish Gaelic footballer. He played at club level with Duagh, Feale Rangers and Shannon Rangers and at inter-county level with the Kerry senior football team. Career Born in Duagh, County Kerry, McAuliffe first came to prominence as a member of the local club. He made his first appearances at inter-county level as a member of the Kerry minor team that won the Munster Minor Championship title in 1951. A spell with the Kerry junior team yielded an All-Ireland Junior Championship medal in 1954, before McAuliffe was drafted onto the Kerry senior team the following year. He won his first All-Ireland Championship title as a non-playing substitute in his debut season, before claiming two further winners' medals on the field of play in 1959 and 1962. Duagh GAA
Duagh () is a village in County Kerry, Ireland, located approximately 9 km southeast of Listowel and 7 km northwest of Abbeyfeale on the R555 regional road. Duagh is a dormitory village for Listowel and Abbeyfeale and a local service centre for the rural hinterland. There is one shop, three public houses, two housing estates, a hardware store and petrol station/shop which are located on the village’s only street at the centre of the village. Social facilities include a church and heritage/community hall and a Gaelic Athletic Association Club located at the centre of the village. The local primary school is also located in the village centre. Population The population of the Duagh Electoral Division increased during the intercensal period 1996-2002. In 2002 the population was recorded as 469 persons (CSO). This equates to an increase of 4.5%. Preliminary figures for the 2006 census show this increase slowing to 3%. The National Football League (NFL; ga, Sraith Náisiúnta Peile) is an annual Gaelic football competition between the senior county teams of Ireland plus London. Sponsored by Allianz, it is officially known as the Allianz National Football League. The Gaelic Athletic Association organises the league. The winning team receives the New Ireland Cup, presented by the New Ireland Assurance Company. The National Football League is the second most prestigious inter-county Gaelic Football competition after the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. Unlike many league competitions in sport, each team plays the other teams in their division only once. Teams that meet in the same division over the course of a number of years often play on a home and away basis in alternative years, though this is not strictly adhered to. 1951 All-Ireland Minor Football Championship
The 1951 All-Ireland Minor Football Championship was the 20th staging of the All-Ireland Minor Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament for boys under the age of 18. Kerry entered the championship as defending champions, however, they were defeated by Armagh in the All-Ireland semi-final. On 23 September 1951, Roscommon won the championship following a 2-7 to 1-5 defeat of Armagh in the All-Ireland final. This was their third All-Ireland title overall and their first in seven championship seasons. Munster Junior Football Championship
The Munster Junior Football Championship is a gaelic football tournament between the six counties of Munster: Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Clare and Waterford. It is the third-tier county teams playing off in a single-elimination tournament with 2 quarter finals instead of 4 (as of 2014). The cup was first given to the winners in 1957. Kerry have won the most titles, 42 in all. The winner will play against the champions of the other provinces in the All-Ireland Junior Football Championship. The 1964 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 78th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament. The championship began on 26 April 1964 and ended on 27 September 1964. Dublin entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Meath in the Leinster final. It was Galway's second consecutive final, having lost to Dublin in the previous year's decider. The Tribesmen won their 5th All-Ireland title, beating Kerry by 5 points in the final, 0-15 to 0-10. The 1958 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was won by Dublin, who beat Derry in the final. The championship, the premier competition in Gaelic football, is a series of games organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association and played during the summer and early autumn.
