Dan Kyle
Dan Kyle is an Australian artist and the recipient of the Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship 2020. He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the National Art School in Darlinghurst in 2010. He lives in Kurrajong Heights at the foot of the Blue Mountains in New South Wales and much of his painting reflects the changing landscape there. His paintings are held in the Collection of the Australian Catholic University and in many private collections in Australia. Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship
The Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship is an Australian annual art award in honour of the painter Brett Whiteley. The scholarship is administered by the Art Gallery of New South Wales. Whiteley died in 1992. In 1999, his mother Beryl Whiteley (19172010) made funds available to establish a scholarship in his memory. The inspiration for the scholarship was the profound effect of international travel and study experienced by Brett as a result of winning the Italian Travelling Art Scholarship at the age of 20. The Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship is open to Australian artists aged between 20 and 30. The winner receives A$25,000 and a three-month residency at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris. In 2004, Beryl Whiteley was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her service as a benefactor to the visual arts through the creation and endowment of the scholarship. National Art School
The National Art School (NAS) is a tertiary level art school, located in , an inner-city suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The school is an independent accredited higher education provider offering specialised study in studio arts practice across various disciplines. With its origins in the formation of Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts in 1843, NAS has been in operation on the historic Darlinghurst Gaol site in East Sydney in various forms since 1922 and was formerly part of East Sydney Technical College, known as East Sydney Tech. Darlinghurst is an inner-city, eastern suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
