Dan Haigh
Dan Haigh (born 5 December 1980) is an English musician, film director, video game designer, writer and visual effects artist. He is best known as co-founder of synthwave band Gunship and as the bass player in the English rock band Fightstar. Early life Dan Haigh was born in Grimsby and later attended Rugby School. Music GUNSHIP Gunship (stylized as GUNSHIP) is a British Synthwave band formed in 2014 by Dan Haigh and Alex Westaway and later joined by drummer Alex Gingell. GUNSHIP's music has been described as ''"influenced by the soundtracks of 80s film, television shows, video games & cartoons".'' Haigh wrote the following summary of the project: "GUNSHIP is a neon soaked, late night, sonic getaway drive, dripping with luscious analog synthesizers, cinematic vocals and cyberpunk values, exploding from the front cover of a dusty plastic VHS case which has lain forgotten since 1984." One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours
''One Day Son, This Will All Be Yours'' is the second studio album by British post-hardcore band Fightstar, released on 24 September 2007 through Institute Recordings, itself a subsidiary of independent label Gut Records. Recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Matt Wallace, the album debuted at number twenty seven on the UK Albums Chart and was preceded by the free downloadable single, " 99" and first official single, " We Apologise for Nothing". As with the bands debut album, Daniel Conway digitally painted the albums artwork. The tracks "Unfamiliar Ceilings" and "H.I.P. (Enough)" are both representations of Fightstar's continued interest in the ''Neon Genesis Evangelion'' franchise. The former song title comes from a line that the protagonist, Shinji Ikari, speaks during the series. Grimsby or Great Grimsby is a port town and the administrative centre of North East Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire, England. Minimoog
The Minimoog is an analog synthesizer first manufactured by Moog Music between 1970 and 1981. Designed as a more affordable, portable version of the modular Moog synthesizer, it was the first synthesizer sold in retail stores. It was first popular with progressive rock and jazz musicians and found wide use in disco, pop, rock and electronic music. Production of the Minimoog stopped in the early 1980s after the sale of Moog Music. In 2002, founder Robert Moog regained the rights to the Moog brand, bought the company, and released an updated version of the Minimoog, the Minimoog Voyager. In 2016 and in 2022, Moog Music released another new version of the original Minimoog. Be Human (album)
''Be Human'' is the third studio album by English alternative rock band Fightstar, released on 20 April 2009 through independent label Search and Destroy Records, itself distributed by PIAS Recordings. The album was recorded between August and December 2008 in Chesterfield and London, with the band co-producing alongside Laruso guitarist Carl Bown. Additional recording took place Air Studios with string composer Audrey Riley. Unlike their first two studio releases, Daniel Conway did not contribute to the album's artwork, instead the band approached Ryohei Hase who digitally painted the cover art. Four singles were released from ''Be Human'', including "The English Way" and " Mercury Summer" prior to the album's release. ''Alternate Endings'' is a compilation album by English post-hardcore band Fightstar, released 11 August 2008 on Gut Records. It features previously unreleased material, b-sides, covers and live radio recordings from the previous four years. Overview The track "Amethyst" is taken from the band's debut EP, ''They Liked You Better When You Were Dead'', in which it was track five. There was a hidden track directly after it titled "Hazy Eyes". The version of "Amethyst" on this album is the version from the EP with "Hazy Eyes" also included end of the track. It is not known if this was an error or if this was in fact meant to be on the track listing. The songs "Shinji Ikari", "Fight for US" and "NERV/SEELE" are about the anime ''Neon Genesis Evangelion''. Also, Shinji Ikari is the name of the show's main protagonist while NERV and SEELE are the names of the two opposing factions from the series. B-sides
The A-side and B-side are the two sides of phonograph records and cassettes; these terms have often been printed on the labels of two-sided music recordings. The A-side usually features a recording that its artist, producer, or record company intends to be the initial focus of promotional efforts and radio airplay and hopefully become a hit record. Grand Unification (album)
''Grand Unification'' is the debut studio album by British post-hardcore band Fightstar, released on 13 March 2006 through Island Records. Based upon the ''Neon Genesis Evangelion'' franchise, ''Grand Unification'' was produced by Colin Richardson and is considered a concept album. The track "Lost Like Tears in Rain" contains the line "It's Neon Genesis" to support the band's interest in the anime series. The artwork, drawn digitally by Daniel Conway, also portrays scenes similar to that of the ruined cities in ''Evangelion''. It is also thought to believe the cover has taken influence from the song "Grand Unification Part 2" as the lyric "hold my hand until the waves come" and the cover features two persons holding hands waiting for what appears to be a flood. ''They Liked You Better When You Were Dead'' is the debut EP by English rock band Fightstar, released on 28 February 2005 through Sandwich Leg Records. The release proved a critical success, in spite of the cynics' initial expectations of the band. It has been said that the EP helped "present Fightstar as a British rival to the East Coast alternative rock scene". Alex Westaway, the band's lead guitarist and co-lyricist drew the artwork based on Edward Norton for the inlay of the booklet, as the record was inspired by author Chuck Palahniuk and the film adaptation ''Fight Club''. The UK version contained 5 tracks (including a sixth hidden track), meaning the EP was ineligible for the UK Singles Chart. However, the release proved popular enough to warrant a reprinting on 23 March 2005.
