At the 1974 World Championships in St. Moritz he placed 15th in slalom and 9th in the Alpine combined. After his retirement, Dan Cristea became a coach. Bușteni () is a small mountain town in the north of Prahova County, Muntenia, Romania. It is located in the Prahova Valley, at the bottom of the Bucegi Mountains, that have a maximum altitude of .
