Damyang
Damyang County (''Damyang-gun'') is a county in Jeollanam-do, South Korea. Tourism is a major local industry. Notable local products include bamboo goods and strawberries. Damyang is not to be confused with Danyang, which is located in eastern North Chungcheong Province. Geography The county comprises one ''eup'' (Damyang-eup, the seat), and eleven ''myeon'' (Bongsan-myeon, Changpyeong-myeon, Daedeok-myeon, Daejeon-myeon, Geumseong-myeon, Goseo-myeon, Mujeong-myeon, Nam-myeon, Subok-myeon, Wolsan-myeon, Yong-myeon). Mountains Chuwolsan and Byeongpungsan are popular hiking destinations. Also notable for its fortress (Geumseongsanseong): Geumseongsan. Soswaewon
Sosweawon or Sosaewon is a typical Korean garden of the middle Joseon Dynasty. It is located in the Nam-myeon, Damyang County of the South Jeolla Province, South Korea. This garden harmonizes with nature in characteristic traditional Korean style. Clean waters in the valley flow below the wall and fall through the small cataract into the lake. This place can be said to be a cultivating house of scholar spirit in that many Confucian scholars discussed academic subjects and wrote their works here. History Soswaewon was originally constructed by Yang San-bo (양산보) from the end of 1520 through the middle of 1530. Yang gave up his government position after his teacher, Jo Gwang-jo (1482 - 1519) was exiled and then killed in the purge of 1519 called ''Gimyo sahwa'' (기묘사화). ''Tteok-galbi'' () or grilled short rib patties is a Korean beef dish made with minced beef short ribs. * Originally a royal dish, ''tteok-galbi'' is now a local specialty of Gyeonggi Province in the central-west region and South Jeolla Province in the south-west region of the Korean Peninsula. Etymology ''Tteok-galbi'' (), literally translated to "cake ribs" as ''tteok'' () means "rice (or other grain) cake" and ''galbi'' () means "rib". The name comes from the food's similarity in appearance to ''tteok''. The process of kneading and shaping the meat is similar to the process of making a rice cake. The International Astronomy Olympiad (IAO) is an internationally recognized annual astronomy scientific-educating event for high school students (14–18 years old), which includes an intellectual competition between these students. It is one of the International Science Olympiads. The Eurasian Astronomical Society founded the IAO in 1996. Competing rounds The competing part of IAO consists of three rounds: a theoretical, an observational, and a practical. Problems of the theoretical round involve classical problems in branches of astronomy, astrophysics, space and planetary physics, and maybe hypothetical situations. Park Chung-hee (, ; 14 November 1917 – 26 October 1979) was a South Korean politician and army general who served as the dictator of South Korea from 1961 until his assassination in 1979; ruling as an unelected military strongman from 1961 to 1963, then as the third President of South Korea from 1963 to 1979. ''R-Point'' () is a 2004 South Korean psychological horror wartime film written and directed by Kong Su-chang.
