Damnably is a small independent record label and music publisher based in London, England, which also organises live events and tours for its roster of acts. History The label was founded in 2006 by George Gargan, of the band Former Utopia. He was later joined by filmmaker Janice Li. The label's first release was a single by Former Utopia, and its first high-profile signing was Shonen Knife. The label has specialized in signing international bands, particularly from Asia. Gargan and Li were married in the late 2010s, and several Damnably artists released songs to commemorate the event. Damnably is a member of the Association of Independent Music and PRS for Music Limited. Thee More Shallows is a three-piece experimental indie rock band based in San Francisco, California. It was formed in 2001. The band consists of Dee (ne David) Kesler, Chavo Fraser and Jason Gonzales. History The three musicians who would come to constitute Thee More Shallows met for the first time at a concert in 2001, where they were all playing with different groups. Songwriter Dee Kesler at the time was in a band called Shackleton along with Tadas Kisielius, and the two of them became the founding members of the group originally known as simply Thee Shallows. Tadas soon moved away, however, and so Kesler brought in Jason Gonzales of The Cubby Creatures and Chavo Fraser, both of whom were performing as drummers at the time. Stinking Lizaveta is a power trio from Philadelphia. MusicMight categorizes them as "doom jazz". History Their 1996 debut album ''Hopelessness and Shame'' was recorded by Steve Albini. Albini was so impressed by them that he brought them to the All Tomorrow's Parties festival he co-curated in 2004. The band's first two albums were on Compulsiv, and their third came out on Joe Lally's now-defunct Tolotta Records label; later releases have been on At a Loss Recordings in the US and Monotreme Record in UK and Europe. Spraydog are an English band that formed in 1994 in Chester-le-Street and Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Biography Formed around 1994, Spraydog have released five studio albums, (4 on their own Ferric Mordant label), nine EPs on Beautiful Pigeon Records, and numerous singles and compilation contributions on a variety of independent labels including Fierce Panda, Stupidcat and Fortuna Pop! Benjamin Shaw is an English-Canadian musician and artist based in Melbourne, Australia. He has recorded for a number of different labels but is a mainstay of Audio Antihero records. He also uses the monickers of Guppy and Megadead. Scrawl was an American indie rock trio based in Columbus, Ohio, and active from the mid-1980s. History The band formed in 1985, originally under the name Skull. The founding members were Marcy Mays (lead vocals, guitar, songwriting), Sue Harshe (bass guitar, backing vocals, songwriting), and Carolyn O'Leary (drums). Their first show, in the summer of 1985, was a 20-minute opening spot for the Meat Puppets, and inspired the band to find a new name, "Scrawl", that sounded a bit like Skull. Otoboke Beaver
is a Japanese punk rock band from Kyoto, formed in 2009. The band currently consists of singer Accorinrin, guitarist Yoyoyoshie, bassist Hirochan, and drummer Kahokiss. Their most recent album '' Super Champon'' was released in May 2022. Biography Otoboke Beaver is named after a love hotel in Osaka which was located near the high school of one of the band members. The band formed in 2009 while the members were active in a rock music club at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto. The original members included Accorinrin on vocals, Yoyoyoshie on guitar, Pop on drums, and Nishikawachi on bass. In June 2011, Otoboke Beaver released a demo CD featuring three songs, including an early version of "Chuchu Song", a live track that would be later re-recorded and distributed to people who helped fund the band's first trip to the United States. Jason Andrew Molina (December 30, 1973 – March 16, 2013) was an American musician, singer and songwriter. Raised in northern Ohio, he came to prominence performing and recording as Songs: Ohia, both in solo projects and with a rotating cast of musicians in the late 1990s. Beginning in 2003, he would garner a further indie following for his releases with the band Magnolia Electric Co. Molina had a prolific career between his two musical projects and solo releases, producing a total of sixteen studio albums, eight EPs, and numerous singles.
