Damnably is a small independent record label and music publisher based in London, England, which also organises live events and tours for its roster of acts. History The label was founded in 2006 by George Gargan, of the band Former Utopia. He was later joined by filmmaker Janice Li. The label's first release was a single by Former Utopia, and its first high-profile signing was Shonen Knife. The label has specialized in signing international bands, particularly from Asia. Gargan and Li were married in the late 2010s, and several Damnably artists released songs to commemorate the event. Damnably is a member of the Association of Independent Music and PRS for Music Limited. Say Sue Me () is an indie rock band from Busan, South Korea, currently consisting of members Sumi Choi, Byungkyu Kim, Sungwan Lim, and Jaeyoung Kim. The group formed in 2012 and has released three full-length albums: ''We've Sobered Up'' (2014), ''Where We Were Together'' (2018) and ''The Last Thing Left (2022)''; and four extended plays: ''Big Summer Night'' (2015), ''Semin'' (2017), ''It's Just a Short Walk!'' Hazy Sour Cherry
Hazy Sour Cherry is a four-piece indie rock band from Tokyo, Japan. The band members were prominent in the Tokyo indie music scene before, being members of other various bands before forming the indie supergroup Hazy Sour Cherry in 2018. Their current line-up consists of Tsuzumi (vocals), Jun (guitar), Karin (drums) and Chiba (bass). Biography Hazy Sour Cherry formed in 2018 with founding members Tsuzumi (of OCHA∞ME), Jun (of HATEMAN, Gorilla) and Karin (of The Highmarts) with their original bassist, Poppo Professor, joining later. Otoboke Beaver
is a Japanese punk rock band from Kyoto, formed in 2009. The band currently consists of singer Accorinrin, guitarist Yoyoyoshie, bassist Hirochan, and drummer Kahokiss. Their most recent album '' Super Champon'' was released in May 2022. Biography Otoboke Beaver is named after a love hotel in Osaka which was located near the high school of one of the band members. The band formed in 2009 while the members were active in a rock music club at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto. The original members included Accorinrin on vocals, Yoyoyoshie on guitar, Pop on drums, and Nishikawachi on bass. In June 2011, Otoboke Beaver released a demo CD featuring three songs, including an early version of "Chuchu Song", a live track that would be later re-recorded and distributed to people who helped fund the band's first trip to the United States. Former Utopia
Former Utopia is a rock band from London, England. They formed after meeting at a Silver Jews gig in 2006. The band toured the UK with Julie Doiron in 2009 and with smallgang 2011 and Europe with Shonen Knife in 2012. They have also shared stages with Bottomless Pit, Uzeda, COME, Bellini, Thee More Shallows, Chris Brokaw, Geoff Farina, Shannon Wright, David Grubbs and PW Long. The band's ''Collapsar'' EP was self-recorded at Karma Studios in a day at Stoke Newington in 2012, and mixed and mastered by Matthew Barnhart at Echolab Studios in Denton. Lazarus Clamp are an English band punk rock band, formed in Leicester in 1994, known for keeping a low profile and for its humorous live performances. Chris Brokaw (born August 1, 1964) is an American musician, best known for his work with the bands Come and Codeine. Life and career While studying at Oberlin College, Brokaw met many people who became figures on the American indie rock scene of the 1990s, among them Stephen Immerwahr, with whom Brokaw formed Codeine, as well as Sooyoung Park of Bitch Magnet and Seam, John McEntire of Tortoise, and Liz Phair. Soon after graduating from Oberlin, Brokaw played drums for a number of bands, including 7 Or 8 Worm Hearts and G.G. Allin. He then joined Codeine and played drums on their first two studio albums, as well as helping to kick-start Liz Phair's career. Shonen Knife is a Japanese pop-punk band formed in Osaka in 1981. Influenced by 1960s girl groups, pop bands, the Beach Boys, and early punk rock bands such as the Ramones, the band crafts stripped-down songs with simple yet unconventional lyrics sung both in Japanese and English.
