Damien Sin
Damien Sin (1965 – 2011), born Foong Yu Lei, was a Singaporean author, poet and musician. He has written several bestselling books published by the Angsana Books imprint of publisher Flame Of The Forest Publishing. Sin died in 2011. After failing his 'A' Levels, Sin started his career as a karaoke-jockey before he turned to writing erotic stories while he was in detention for a drug offence. He was a member of Russell Lee's team of ghost writers. Sin also wrote the screenplay of the critically acclaimed film, ''Mee Pok Man'' (1995), which launched director Eric Khoo's career. Its story was based on Sin's short story "One Last Cold Kiss", which appeared in ''Classic Singapore Horror Stories: Book 2'' (1994). Khoo later dedicated his film '' In the Room'' (2015) to Sin. Zircon Lounge
Zircon Lounge was a Singaporean band formed in the early 1980s that achieved popularity with the release of their influential debut album, ''Regal Vigor'' (1983). The pioneering new wave band broke up in 1988. Despite their short lifespan, Zircon Lounge is credited with sparking off the Singapore alternative music scene. History Zircon Lounge formed from the ashes of Damien Sin's Transformer, a garage rock band that disc jockey and music critic Chris Ho was a part of from 1979. Transformer disbanded in 1982 and Zircon Lounge was formed shortly after with Ho on lead vocals, Tan Tiang Yeow on lead guitars, Ernie Woo Huay Pin on bass, and Ronnie Chung Shih Loong on drums. The Substation
The Substation (Chinese: 电力站) is Singapore's first independent contemporary arts centre. It was founded in 1990 by Kuo Pao Kun. The Substation is centrally located in the city's civic district and was the first building under the National Arts Council's "Arts Housing Scheme". It officially opened on 16 September 1990. The Substation is a non-profit organisation and registered Institution of Public Character in Singapore, which relies on financial and in-kind support from the general public, commercial organisations and government ministries to cover the costs of operating and developing arts & educational programmes. ''In the Room'' is a 2015 Singaporean erotic drama film directed by Eric Khoo and written by Khoo and Jonathan Lim. The film stars Josie Ho, George Young, Daniel Jenkins, Koh Boon Pin, W Leon U, Show Nishino, Lawrence Wong, Nadia AR, and Ian Tan. The film comprises six different stories of couples in a single-room at a hotel in Singapore, spread over several decades. The film is marked as Singapore's first erotic film. At the same time, Khoo downplays the film's erotic themes, calling its ode to the national cultural trends "a look at Singapore through the decades. It's a homage to the country".
