Damien Bowen (born 14 May 1984) is an Australian seated shot putter and seated javelin thrower. He represented Australia in athletics at the 2012 Summer Paralympics but did not medal. Personal Bowen was born on 14 May 1984 in Perth, Western Australia. , he lives in Queanbeyan, New South Wales and is from the Australian Capital Territory. Bowen has cerebral palsy. Athletics Bowen is a seated shot putter and seated javelin thrower. He competes in the F34 classification. He is coached by Alison O'Riordan, and is a member of the Queanbeyan Athletics Club. He became involved in athletics while living in Western Australia. In 2008, Bowen had a scholarship with the Australian Institute of Sport. In 2009, he had an "Aspire to be a Champion" grant. T34 (classification)
T34 is a disability sport classification for disability athletics. The classification is one of eight specifically for athletes with cerebral palsy, and one of four for athletes with cerebral palsy who use a wheelchair. People in this class have hypertonia, ataxia and athetosis. This class includes people who have cerebral palsy, or who have had a stroke or traumatic brain injury. ACT Academy Of Sport
The ACT Academy of Sport (ACTAS) was launched in 1989. It is an endorsed Australian Olympic Committee and Australian Paralympic Committee National Training Centre and a member of the National Institutes of Network. History The establishment of ACTAS as a pilot program was announced in the Australian Government's budget delivered in August 1988. ACTAS was allocated a budget of $100,000 as part the Community Development Fund.
