Damian Bourke
Damian Bourke (born 19 January 1965) is a former Australian rules footballer for Australian Football League (AFL) clubs Geelong during the 1980s and Brisbane in the early 1990s. Bourke played as a ruckman and captained Geelong from 1987 until 1989. His last game as captain was the 1989 VFL Grand Final where Geelong lost to Hawthorn by a goal. Bourke finished equal eighth in the 1991 Brownlow Medal and in 1993 moved to Queensland to play for Brisbane. Bourke retired at the end of the 1995 AFL season. Ruckman (Australian Rules Football Position)
In Australian rules football, a ruckman or ruckwoman is typically a tall and athletic player who contests at centre bounces and stoppages (such as boundary throw-ins and ball-ups). The ruckman is one of the most important players on the field. They are often key to coaching strategy and winning centre clearances which result in the most goal kicking opportunities (inside 50s). The role of the ruckman in Australian rules is similar to a lock in rugby union contesting a line-out. The key differences are that with the exception of boundary throw-ins, the ball is almost always thrown straight up high into the air rather than horizontally, so in this respect, the ruckman is similar to a basketball centre. The 1995 AFL season was the 99th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The league expanded to sixteen clubs, with the newly established Fremantle Football Club, based in Fremantle, Western Australia, joining the league. Jordon Bourke
Jordon Bourke (born 11 November 1994) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Brisbane Lions in the Australian Football League (AFL). The son of former and ruckman Damian Bourke, Jordon is a tall strong-marking player who can play at either end of the ground. Early career Bourke grew up in Coorparoo, Queensland, and was scouted by Brisbane Lions scouts for his natural talent. Chosen in the Queensland side for the 2011 National Under 18s championship, Bourke led the team to the Division Two title. His efforts were recognized with the Championships' Division Two Most Valuable Player award. He was selected in the AIS-AFL Academy program and was drafted by Brisbane in the 2013 Rookie Draft at number 63.
