Damals In Der DDR
''Damals in der DDR'' (''Life Behind the Wall'') is a ten part German documentary television series which was awarded the Grimme-Preis, Adolf Grimme Prize in 2005. It was produced by Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk, MDR, Westdeutscher Rundfunk, WDR, and Gunnar Dedio of the production firm LOOKSfilm. The series uses contemporary accounts to report on life in the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) during 1945–1990. The title song for the series was sung by Udo Lindenberg. On 28 July 2006, the documentary series became available on DVD. Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk (MDR; ''Central German Broadcasting'') is the public broadcaster for the federal states of Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt in Germany. Gunnar Dedio (born November 16, 1969, in Rostock, Germany) is a German film producer and media entrepreneur. He is the founder and managing director of the film production company LOOKSfilm. Life In 1995, Gunnar Dedio founded the media production company LOOKSfilm. Parallel to his work as a producer and managing director, he completed executive training at INSEAD, the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), and the MIT Sloan School of Management. LOOKSfilm is a German film production company, based in Leipzig, Berlin, Hanover and Halle (Saale). The company was founded in 1995 by Gunnar Dedio. It develops, produces and distributes series as well as documentary and feature films for the international market. LOOKSfilm possesses its own archives department, which researches and restores photo and film material for historical productions. Udo Lindenberg
Udo Lindenberg (born 17 May 1946) is a German singer, drummer, and composer. Career Lindenberg started his musical career as a drummer. In 1969, he founded his first band Free Orbit, and also appeared as a studio and guest musician (with Michael Naura, Knut Kiesewetter). In 1970, he collaborated as a drummer with jazz saxophonist Klaus Doldinger in Munich. In 1971 Passport, a band founded by Doldinger, released its first album, with Lindenberg on drums. He also played drums for the theme music for the German TV series ''Tatort''. The first LP by the jazz rock group Emergency was released in 1971, but met with little commercial success.
