Dalzellia Microphylla
''Dalzellia'' is a genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Podostemaceae. Its native range is India and Sri Lanka, Indo-China (Thailand and Laos), and southeastern China. Its genus name is in honour of Nicol Alexander Dalzell (1817–1878), a Scottish botanist. It was named in Icon. Pl. Ind. Orient. Vol.5 on page 34 in 1852. Robert Wight Doctor of Medicine, MD Fellow of the Royal Society, FRS Linnean Society of London, FLS (6 July 1796 – 26 May 1872) was a Scottish surgeon in the East India Company, whose professional career was spent entirely in southern India, where his greatest achievements were in botany – as an economic botanist and leading taxonomist in south India. He contributed to the introduction of Gossypium barbadense, American cotton. As a taxonomist he described 110 new genera and 1267 new species of flowering plants. He employed Indian botanical artists to illustrate many plants collected by himself and Indian collectors he trained.
