''Daly at Night'' was an Australian television series which aired from 7 March 1962 to 29 March 1963, aired on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on Melbourne station HSV-7. Hosted by American-born Jonathan Daly, the series was an interview program. Other regulars on the series included Horrie Dargie, Vikki Hammond, Lou Richards, Frank Thring and Arthur Young. Jonathan Daly
Jonathan Daly (born January 14, 1942) is an American actor who is known in America for his roles in ''Petticoat Junction'', ''The Jimmy Stewart Show'', and ''C.P.O. Sharkey'', and best known in Australia for being in the comedy duo " Delo & Daly". Delo & Daly In the 1960s, Daly formed the comedy team "Delo & Daly" with Ken Delo (later of ''The Lawrence Welk Show''). They became friends while in the US Army, and began by performing at military shows. They became quite popular in Australia. HSV (TV Station)
HSV is a television station in Melbourne, Australia. It is part of the Seven Network, one of the three main commercial television networks in Australia, its first and oldest station. It launched in time for the 1956 Summer Olympic Games in Melbourne. HSV-7 is the home of AFL coverage. The HSV building (also known as 'Broadcast Centre Melbourne') was the network's operations hub, where the Master Control Room was located, controlling all metropolitan and regional feeds. Programming lineup, advertisement output, feed switching, time zone monitoring and national transmission output was previously delivered there. Horrie Dargie
Horace Andrew Dargie (7 July 191730 August 1999) was an Australian musician and harmonicist, television compere and manager and music label founder and arranger. Life and career Early life Horrie Dargie was born in Whyalla, South Australia, the second son of Andrew Dargie and Adelaide Mary Dargie (née Sargent). His older brother Sir William Dargie was a noted Australian portrait artist. Music Dargie began his musical career as a diatonica harmonica player. A self-taught musician, he was inspired greatly by Larry Adler and learned to play the Gershwin composition "Rhapsody in Blue". He joined the Yarraville Mouth Organ Band, which practised in a shoe repair shop. Later he joined William Ketterer's Victorian Mouth Organ Band. The band consisted of some of the most promising players in the state of Victoria. Lewis Thomas Charles "Lou" Richards, (15 March 1923 – 8 May 2017) was an Australian rules footballer who played 250 games for the Collingwood Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) between 1941 and 1955. He captained the team from 1952 to 1955, including a premiership win in 1953. Francis William Thring (11 May 1926 – 29 December 1994) was an Australian character actor in radio, stage, television and film; as well as a theatre director.
