There have been several baronetcies created for people with the surname Dalrymple. Creations All creations were in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia unless otherwise mentioned. The first creation was on 2 June 1664, for James Dalrymple of Stair. He was later created Viscount of Stair in 1690, and the titles remain merged. The second creation was on 28 April 1698, for James Dalrymple, second son of the first Viscount of Stair. The fifth baronet, Sir John, succeeded as eighth Earl of Stair (and ninth baronet of the 1664 creation) in 1840, and the titles remain merged. HMS Dalrymple (K427)
HMS ''Dalrymple'' was a anti-aircraft frigate of the British Royal Navy, which served as a survey ship, mostly in the Persian Gulf, from 1948 until 1965. She was completed to deal with the large numbers of uncharted wrecks and mines around the British Isles as a result of World War II. For this purpose she was fitted for minesweeping. She was named for the pioneering Hydrographer of the Admiralty Alexander Dalrymple (1737–1808). Construction The ship was originally ordered from William Pickersgill & Sons Ltd. of Southwick, Sunderland, on 25 January 1943 as the ''Loch Glass''. However the contract was changed in 1944, and the ship was laid down as Admiralty Job Number 4795 on 29 April 1944 to a revised design as a Bay-class anti-aircraft frigate, and launched on 12 April 1945 as ''Luce Bay''. Dalrymple's sign is a widened palpebral (eyelid) opening, or eyelid spasm, seen in thyrotoxicosis (as seen in Graves' disease, exophthalmic goitre and other hyperthyroid conditions), causing abnormal wideness of the palpebral fissure. Mount Dalrymple () is a mountain (3,600 m) between Mount Alf and Mount Goldthwait in the northern part of the Sentinel Range, Antarctica. It surmounts Sabazios Glacier to the north-northeast and Embree Glacier to the southeast. The mountain was mapped by the Marie Byrd Land Traverse party of 1957–58, under Charles R. Bentley, and named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Paul C. Dalrymple, meteorologist, member of the wintering party at Little America V in 1957 and the South Pole Station in 1958. Dalrymple, Queensland
Dalrymple is a former township on the western bank of the Burdekin River, Charters Towers Region, Queensland, Australia. Established in 1864 as a police camp it was destroyed by flooding in 1870 and was abandoned in the following years. The site of the former township now falls within Dalrymple National Park where headstones and fencing remaining from the sites settlement can be found. History In 1863, George Elphinstone Dalrymple claimed pastoral land in an area of recently opened crown lands, ''The Valley of Lagoons''. A police camp was established at the southern extent of Dalrymple's land, the future location of the township, and in 1864 became the first inland town in Northern Australia to be surveyed. The township became a crossing of the Burdekin River for travellers headed west from Townsville and following the discovery of Gold at Cape River in 1868 became a major center for the nearby goldfields. Dalrymple is a national park in Queensland, Australia, 1108 km northwest of Brisbane. The park has unique features such as ancient lava flows and the Burdekin River, the largest river in Queensland. Dalrymple was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland from 2009 to 2017. Geography Based in inland northern Queensland, Dalrymple was a north–south elongated electorate, running from the Atherton Tableland west of Cairns at its northern end, down to areas west of Mackay at its southern end. The Shire of Dalrymple was a local government area located in North Queensland, Australia, and surrounded but did not include the town of Charters Towers, at which its council and administrative centre was based. Port Dalrymple School is a school in George Town, Tasmania, Australia. The school has students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and Vocational Education Training (VET). History Port Dalrymple School was opened in 1999 after the merge of George Town Primary School and George Town High School.
