	Dail M%C3%B2r Dail Mòr (or Dalmore) is a hamlet situated in the Northside of Carloway, a major settlement on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland. The hamlet has a beach and a cemetery. A small well kept car park is available for visitors as are picnic & public BBQ facilities. The beach is a known surf destination mentioned in numerous guidebooks. Note there is a strong rip current at the north end of the beach. Despite its remoteness, five of the six houses in the village were connected to fibre broadband in November 2012. In August 2016, the ''Transocean Winner'' oil rig ran aground, on a headland just off Dalmore beach. The oil rig was being towed from Norway to Malta, when it became detached from the tug boat. Archaeology Excavations were conducted at Dail Mòr in the autumn of 1982 by Gerald and Margaret Ponting when part of the sea wall collapsed near the beach. picture info	Dalmore House And Estate Dalmore () was a country house and small estate in the Parish of Stair, East Ayrshire, on the River Ayr, East Ayrshire, Scotland History The relatively small estate of Dalmore was originally part of the Barony of Gaitgirth (Gadgirth). Paterson recorded that the family of Scherar held the property in 1615; the Scherars (Shearer) were Burgesses of Ayr. The Earl of Stair held the property in 1696. In 1821 William Heron was the owner, followed by his nephew James Heron; William dying in 1830 and James in 1849. The property was included in the estate of James who died intestate and was claimed by an aunt, Elizabeth McKie as sole next of kin. It subsequently passed into the ownership of William McKie but occupied by William Dunn.William Dunn was once the quarry manager and his wife, was Jessie Mckie (died 1913), her father being William McKie (died 1857), described as a quarryman. 	Dalmore Distillery The Dalmore distillery is located in Alness, Scotland, 20 miles (32 km) north of Inverness. It sits on the banks of the Cromarty Firth overlooking the Black Isle, the "big meadowland" from which it takes its name. The Dalmore distillery is owned and operated by Whyte & Mackay, which Philippines-based Emperador Inc owns. History The distillery was established in 1839 by entrepreneur Alexander Matheson and sold to Andrew and Charles Mackenzie in 1867, who introduced the 12-pointed Royal Stag emblem. Operations ran fairly smoothly at the distillery until 1917 when the British Royal Navy began to use the firth next to the distillery as a site for the production of deep-sea mines. In 1920 much of the distillery was destroyed by an explosion and the fire resulting from a mine detonation incident. 	Dalmore Paper Mill Auchendinny (Scottish Gaelic: Achadh an t-Sionnaich, meaning field of the fox) is a small village in Glencorse near Penicuik, Midlothian, Scotland. The village had a paper mill at Dalmore, until its closure in 2005. This was Midlothian's last remaining papermill and after demolition is now the site of new home development. Nearby Auchendinny House was the last country house designed by gentleman architect Sir William Bruce. Buildings of Note Penicuik was the heart of the Scottish paper industry, and the nearby mill (the Brunt Mill) at Auchendinny was established in 1716. The mill was destroyed by fire in the 1840s. It became a laundry in 1856, serving Queen Victoria during her residence at Holyroodhouse, and operated as such until the 1960s. Auchendinny House was remodelled by Robert Lorimer in 1900.
