Dalmas (film)
''Dalmas'' is a 1973 Australian film directed by Bert Deling. One critic wrote that "with Dave Jones’ ''Yackety Yack'' he filmconstitutes the clearest presence of Godard in Australian cinema." Plot An ex-cop, Pete Dalmas, is pursuing a drug runner Mr Big. He visits another ex-cop, Rojack, who has become a drug addict. Rojack gives him a lead to a drug dealer called the Plastic Man. He follows the Plastic Man to a seaside camp and the film turns into a film about the making of the film, with the director and actors discussing filmmaking and drugs. Peter Cummins (born 2 June 1931 in Melbourne) is an Australian retired character actor of stage and screen and chorister who was especially prominent in the 1970s and appeared in some of the most famous Australian films of the period. Maxwell Irvine Gillies AM (born 16 November 1941) is an Australian actor and a founding member of the 1970s experimental theatre company, the Australian Performing Group. Early life and education Gillies studied art teaching at Frankston Teachers College and featured in the theatre productions ''School for Scandal'' and ''Summer of the Seventeenth Doll'' with Kerry Dwyer in 1964. He graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1966. He then studied secondary teaching at the Melbourne Teachers' College, now part of the University of Melbourne. Career In 1984–85, Gillies hosted ''The Gillies Report'' on ABC Television. This was followed in 1986 by ''Gillies Republic'' and in 1992 by ''Gillies and Company''. John Duigan
John Duigan (born 19 June 1949) is an Australian film director and screenwriter. He is mostly known for his two autobiographical films ''The Year My Voice Broke'' and ''Flirting'', and the 1994 film ''Sirens'', which stars Hugh Grant. Biography Duigan was born in Hartley Wintney, Hampshire, England to an Australian father, and emigrated to Australia in 1961. He is related to many Australian performers, being the brother of novelist Virginia Duigan (wife of director Bruce Beresford) and uncle of Trilby Beresford. Duigan studied at the University of Melbourne, where he resided at Ormond College and graduated in 1973 with a master's degree in Philosophy. Roger Ward (born 1936) is an Australian actor who has had a considerable career in film and television, noted for "tough guy" roles in which he often did his own stunts. Biography Ward was born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1936. His career began at an early age with roles on stage and radio. In his late teens he travelled to Tahiti to begin writing what became the controversial novel and film, '' The Set''. The film was produced in 1970 but the novel was not published until 2011.
