Dallen Stanford
Dallen Stanford (born May 16, 1979) is a South African-born, former American rugby union sevens player and current rugby commentator based in the United States. Stanford is a World Rugby lead commentator, having covered the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, the 2018 and 2022 Rugby World Cup Sevens, World Rugby Sevens Series since 2016, World Rugby u20 Championship, Americas Rugby Championship, Rugby Europe Championship, Rugby Europe Super Cup, Super Rugby Americas, Premier Rugby 7s and Major League Rugby on CBS's Sports Network and Fox Sports. Stanford was selected for the USA Rugby Sevens team by head coach Al Caravelli in 2006. The halfback played in twelve Sevens World Series events from 2007 to 2009 and was a traveling reserve for the 2009 Sevens Rugby World Cup in Dubai. The USA Sevens is a rugby sevens tournament held annually during March in the United States. The USA Sevens is the largest annual rugby competition in North America, drawing over 60,000 fans, and is broadcast live in the United States by ESPN. The USA Sevens was introduced in 2004, originally in the Los Angeles suburb of Carson, California. The event moved to San Diego in 2007, and from there moved to Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas in 2010. The Collegiate Rugby Championship (CRC) is an annual college rugby sevens tournament. The 2011 Rugby World Cup was the seventh Rugby World Cup, a quadrennial international rugby union competition inaugurated in 1987.
