Dallas Gerald Mercer Bernard
Sir Dallas Gerald Mercer Bernard, 1st Baronet (22 March 188826 November 1975) was a banker in England, Hong Kong, and the Middle East. Early life Bernard was born on 22 March 1888. Bernards's parents were Edmund Bowen Bernard and Arabella Margaret Piercy. Bernard studied at Stubbington House School in Fareham, Hampshire, England. After Bernard held the rank of midshipman in the Royal Navy, he attended Thames Nautical Training College in Foots Cray Place, Kent. Career Bernard arrived in the Far East and joined Jardine, Matheson & Co. by at least 1912, at which point he was working there as an assistant. He was chairman of the trustees of the Sailors' Home and on the Local General Committee of the Missions to Seamen in Hong Kong in the 1920s. John Coldbrook Hanbury-Williams
Sir John Coldbrook Hanbury-Williams (28 May 1892 – 10 August 1965) was a British businessman and courtier. He was director of Courtaulds from 1946 to 1962, served as a director of the Bank of England from 1936 to 1963, and held various positions in the royal household. Early life Hanbury-Williams was born in Henley-on-Thames, the son of Major-General Sir John Hanbury-Williams and Annie Emily Reiss. He was educated at Wellington College. He began his business career at Rice Bros. in London and Manchester, prior to the First World War breaking out. Archibald Orr Lang (circa 1880 – 10 July 1957) was a Scottish shipping businessman and unofficial member of the Executive Council and Legislative Council of Hong Kong. Career Lang arrived in Hong Kong in 1904 to join the Gibb, Livingston & Co. He became a partner of the company and also the Mackinnon, Mackenzie & Co. Sir Henry Edward Pollock, QC, JP (, 16 December 1864 – 2 February 1953) was an English barrister who became a prominent politician in Hong Kong. He acted as Attorney General in Hong Kong on several occasions, and was once appointed to the same post in Fiji. He also served as Senior Unofficial Member of both the Legislative Council and Executive Council for many years in pre- Pacific War Hong Kong. Sir William Edward Leonard Shenton (18 March 1885 – 20 November 1967) was an English solicitor who worked in Hong Kong. Born in Morestead near Winchester, he was the son of William Shenton and Eleanor Johnson. He went to the Northgate School at St. Thomas, Hampshire around 1901. He arrived in Hong Kong in 1908 and rose to the head of the well-known Hong Kong legal firm of Deacons. He was also the chairman of the Union Insurance Society of Canton. Herbert William Bird
Herbert William Bird ( fl. 1897 – 1931) was a British architect and member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. He was the nephew of S. G. Bird, a long-time resident in Hong Kong who arrived in 1857 and carried out the first survey of Hong Kong. He went to Hong Kong to join the Palmer and Turner architect firm as an assistant in around 1892 or 1893. He became Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects in 1897. He succeeded Arthur Turner as the partner of the Palmer & Turner in 1901 until 1928 and an authorised architect from 1903. He had designed many of Hong Kong's best known buildings. Percy Hobson Holyoak (1874 – 25 May 1926) was a British businessman in Hong Kong and member of the Legislative Council and Executive Council of Hong Kong. Background and business career Percy Hobson Holyoak was the son of the Rev. T. H. Holyoak of Chesham-Bois, Buckinghamshire, England.
