Salmaan Taseer
Salman Taseer ( Punjabi and ur, ); ( 4 January 2011) was a Pakistani businessman and politician, who served as the 26th Governor of Punjab from 2008 until his assassination in 2011. A member of the Pakistan Peoples Party since the 1980s, he was elected to the Punjab Assembly from Lahore in the 1988 election, however lost in 1990, 1993 and then in 1997. Taseer served as a minister in the caretaker cabinet of Prime Minister Mian Soomro under Pervez Musharraf during the 2008 elections. He was appointed as the governor of Punjab on 15 May 2008, by then-President Musharraf at the request of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani. During his governorship, he emerged as an outspoken critic of the Pakistan's blasphemy laws and consequently called for the pardon for Asia Bibi. ''The Friday Times'' (TFT) is a Pakistani English-language independent newsweekly, based in Lahore, Pakistan. History and profile ''The Friday Times'' was first published in May 1989. TFT's founder-editor Najam Sethi and publisher Jugnu Mohsin, a husband-and-wife team, are recipients of international awards conferred by Amnesty International and the Committee to Protect Journalists. In 2009, Sethi also won the Golden Pen of Freedom, the annual press freedom prize of the World Association of Newspapers. According to Sethi, he first conceived of the idea for an independent Pakistani newspaper out of frustration: while briefly imprisoned in 1984 on trumped-up copyright charges, no newspapers had protested his arrest. Hassan Askari Rizvi ( ur, ) ( SI), is a Pakistani political scientist and military analyst who served as caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Pakistan in 2018. Saulat Nagi is an Australian-Pakistani writer. He has authored several books on socialism (Gramscian and Frankfurt schools) and history. He is a regular columnist in one of Pakistan's leading English language dailies, the '' Daily Times.'' Lal Khan
Lal Khan ( ur, لال خان; June 1956 – 21 February 2020) was a political activist and Marxist political theorist. Born Tanveer Gondal, he was a physician by profession but ceased practicing medicine in order to devote his time to political activity. Adopting the name Lal Khan, he was the leader of the Pakistani Marxist organization '' The Struggle'', and editor of its newspaper. He also wrote regular articles for ''Daily Times'' and the ''Dunya''. He died on 21 February 2020 after being ill with cancer for more than a year. All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) is an organization of major Pakistani newspapers, their publishers, companies, and corporations. It includes the Jang Group of Newspapers, Dawn Group of Newspapers, and Nawa-i-Waqt Group of Newspapers. History The Pakistan Newspapers Society was established in 1950. Later, All Pakistan Newspapers Society was established in 1953 and was headed by Hamid Nizami, Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman, Mian Iftikharuddin, ''Fakhre Matri'', Hamid Mahmood, Yusuf Haroon, Mahmud A. Haroon, A.G. Mirza, Kazi Mohammad Akber, Munawwar Hidayet Ullah, K. M. Hamid Ullah, Anwarul Islam of the newspaper '' Pakistan Observer'', Dacca, Syed Hameed Hussain Naqvi, and Tanvir Tahir.
