The Dainik Purbokone ( bn, দৈনিক পূর্বকোণ, lit=East angle) is a Bengali-language daily newspaper in Bangladesh, and one of the leading newspaper published in Chittagong. The newspaper was founded in 1986. According to the data published by the Department of Films and Publications, under the Ministry of Information (Bangladesh), Ministry of Information, on 28 August 2019, its circulation of 62,100 copies was the largest of the national dailies published from Chittagong. In the assessment of the Bangladesh Press Institute in 1994, ''Purbokone'' was mentioned as the best daily. History ''Purbokone'' was founded by Mohammad Yusuf Chowdhury in 1986. K G Mustafa (c. 192813 March 2010) was a Bangladeshi journalist who served as Ambassador for a brief period. He was awarded Ekushey Padak by the Government of Bangladesh in 1999. Early life and education Mustafa was born to Khondakar Wasiuzzaman and Tahiatunnesa. He passed matriculation examination in 1944 from Banwarilal High School. He obtained BA (Hons) degree in political science from the University of Dhaka in 1951. He obtained MA degree in political science in 1957. Career Mustafa started journalist as a profession while studying at Islamia College. He first joined the Daily Azad. He later also worked in the Dainik Insaf, Dainik Ittefaq, Bangladesh Observer, Dainik Purbokone, the weekly Dialogue, the Sangbad and Muktokantha. Ekushey Padak
Ekushey Padak ( bn, একুশে পদক; lit. "Twentyfirst Award") is the second highest civilian award in Bangladesh, introduced in memory of the martyrs of the Bengali Language Movement of 1952. The award is given to recognize contributions in a number of fields, including culture, education, and economics. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs administers the award. The award consists of an 18 carat gold medal weighing 3 tolas and a certificate of honour. The medal was designed by the artist Nitun Kundu. The amount of the cash reward was originally ৳ 25,000, but it was subsequently increased to ৳ 100,000 in 2015. Next it was increased to tk 2,00,000 in 2017 and to tk 4,00,000 as of November 2019.
