Fiji's Daily Post
The ''Fiji's Daily Post'' (''FDP'') was a newspaper in Fiji that was founded in October 1987 by Wame Waqanisanini, Jr, who owned 50 percent of the shares. Taniela Bolea was the original publisher. The majority shares were later owned by the Fijian government. The newspaper suspended publication and has remain closed since 2010. The ''FDP'' suffered criticism from its commencement in 1989 to its closure in 2010 that it represented an extreme ethnic Fijian/Itaukei viewpoint in Fiji's national discourse. The evidence for this conclusion is inconclusive. No other newspaper in Fiji has attempted to reach as wide a multicultural cross-section of the people as the FDP through the provision of five separate language publications. ''The Guam Daily Post'' is a newspaper based in Tamuning, in the United States territory of Guam. It is owned by the Ho S. Eun Trust and is published seven days a week. The paper started in 2004 as the Guam edition of the ''Marianas Variety'', which is based in Saipan. Ho S. Eun, the owner of local construction firm Core Tech International, bought the paper in 2015 and renamed it to ''The Guam Daily Post'', when the newspaper was reportedly not making a profit. The ''Rotorua Daily Post'' is the regional newspaper for the Central North Island including the greater Rotorua area as well as Taupo and the surrounding areas. History The paper was founded in 1885 as the ''Hot Lakes Chronicle'', and received a major scoop when it covered the eruption of Mount Tarawera in June 1886. It was founded by a Mr Watt, and upon his death his wife took over. She in turn sold it to Mr David Gardner, who emigrated from Queensland, in 1905. Gardner's sons, Robin and Russell, took over upon his death in 1918. Originally published weekly, the ''Hot Lakes Chronicle'' was published twice a week by Gardner in an effort to stave off competition from a rival paper. The ''Vanuatu Daily Post'' is a newspaper published in Port Vila in Vanuatu. It is the only daily newspaper in Vanuatu. The newspaper's founder, Marc Neil-Jones, had been the victim of physical attacks supported by government ministers during his time at the newspaper. Work permit controversy Dan McGarry, the newspaper's media director and a Canadian national, announced on 7 November 2019 that the Vanuatu government had refused to renew his work permit. McGarry stated that the 'overt reason' was that his role should have been 'localized' (filled by a Vanuatu citizen) but claimed that the 'real reason' was that the Daily Post's reporting had discomforted the government. He has appealed against the decision. On 6 July 2019, the ''Daily Post'' published an article detailing the deportation of six Chinese nationals by the Vanuatuan government. The ''South Wales Evening Post'' is a tabloid daily newspaper distributed in the South West region of Wales. The paper has three daily editions – Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot and Carmarthenshire – and is published by Media Wales, part of the Reach plc group. The current editor is Jonathan Roberts. As the name suggests, it had previously been an evening paper, but later moved to a morning daily. The paper has a circulation of 13,257 as recorded by the ABC in January 2020, down from 40,149 in 2011. Founded in 1893 as the ''South Wales Daily Post'', the paper changed its name in 1932 to the current title. Former journalists included poet Dylan Thomas, who joined from school in 1930 but left 18 months later to become freelance.
