Dagfinn Flem (28 July 1906 – 28 May 1976) was a Norwegian politician, newspaper editor, non-fiction writer and translator. He was born in Borgund, a son of Ivar Flem and Nikoline Landmark, and a brother of Magne Flem. He edited the newspaper ''Sunnmørsposten'' from 1946, along with his brother. Borgund, Møre Og Romsdal
Borgund is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1837 until 1968 when it was merged into Ålesund Municipality. Borgund originally encompassed the large area north of the Storfjorden and south of the Grytafjorden, from the mainland areas of today's Skodje Municipality in the east to the islands of today's Giske Municipality and the ocean in the west. The city of Ålesund was located in the central part of Borgund, however, was not part of Borgund, and it was governed separately. At its dissolution in 1968, the municipality included the islands of Sula, Humla, Tørla, and Ellingsøya, as well as parts of Oksenøya, Hessa, and Nørvøya, plus many minor islands throughout the area. ''Hvem er hvem?'' ( en, Who is Who?) was a Norwegian book series, presenting facts about notable persons from Norway. The first edition was issued in 1912, and the 14th edition came in 1994. In the 2008 edition, edited by Knut Olav Åmås, one thousand persons were selected for presentation. A prisoner (also known as an inmate or detainee) is a person who is deprived of liberty against their will. This can be by confinement, captivity, or forcible restraint. The term applies particularly to serving a prison sentence in a prison. English law "Prisoner" is a legal term for a person who is imprisoned. In section 1 of the Prison Security Act 1992, the word "prisoner" means any person for the time being in a prison as a result of any requirement imposed by a court or otherwise that he be detained in legal custody. "Prisoner" was a legal term for a person prosecuted for felony. It was not applicable to a person prosecuted for misdemeanour. Ivar Flem
Ivar Elias Kornelius Flem (8 January 1865 – 1948) was a Norwegian newspaper editor. He was chief editor of the newspaper ''Sunnmørsposten'' for nearly fifty years. Personal life Flem was born on 8 January 1865 in Haram to Martinius Ingebrigtsen Flem and Oline Blindheim. In 1897 He married Nikoline Susanna Landmark. He was the father of Dagfinn Flem and Magne Flem. Flem died in 1948. Career Flem passed examen artium in 1885, and studied philology. In 1894 he became editor of the Ålesund based newspaper ''Sunnmørsposten''. In 1896 he bought the newspaper and was both publisher and editor the next fifty years, except during the German occupation of Norway, when he was dismissed from his position as editor by the Nazi authorities. ''Sunnmørsposten'' became a daily newspaper from 1905, and was eventually regarded among the most important newspapers in the region. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991). He was the older brother of politician Ingvar Lars Helle. The family moved to Hetland when Knut Helle was seventeen years old. He took the examen artium in Stavanger in 1949, and a teacher's education in Kristiansand in 1952. He studied philology in Oslo and Bergen, and graduated with the cand.philol. degree in 1957.
