Dafydd Jones
Dafydd Jones (born 24 June 1979) is a Welsh former rugby union rugby player of the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s, who played for the Scarlets in the Celtic League, playing in the back row, scoring nine tries (45 points) in 104 appearances. He also played for Wales, making 42 appearances in an eight-year international career. Jones was born in Aberystwyth. A product of Llanelli's youth system, he went on to play for Wales Development as well as the Sevens and 'A' teams. He made his Test debut for Wales on 9 November 2002 against Fiji at the Millennium Stadium; Wales won the match 58–14. He was then capped against Canada and the All Blacks. After competing in the 2003 Six Nations Championship, he was capped against the All Blacks and England, before he was included in the Welsh squad for the 2003 Rugby World Cup. Dafydd Jones (footballer)
Dafydd Rhys Jones (born 5 June 1998) is a Welsh footballer who plays as a midfielder for Tredegar Town. Career Jones was a product of the Newport County academy. He made his senior debut for Newport in the Football League Cup first round match versus Wolverhampton Wanderers on 11 August 2015 as a second-half substitute. Wolves won the game 2–1. On 31 August 2016, Jones joined Welsh Football League Division One club Monmouth Town on loan until 31 January 2017. In December 2016 Newport County confirmed Jones would be released by Newport at the conclusion of his contract on 31 January 2017. Dafydd Jones (Dewi Dywyll)
Dafydd Jones or Dewi Dywyll (1803 – 1868) was a Welsh balladeer. His father was a carpenter in Llanybydder, Carmarthenshire, and he was born on the estate of Dolau Bach there. He was also known as Deio'r Cantwr (Davy the Singer) and Dewi Medi (Harvest Dave). Dafydd Jones gained the name Dewi Dywyll, which means Blind Davy, due to being blinded by accident. He wrote ballads and sang them. He gained his fame for his impromptu singing all over Wales in an age of wandering balladeers who were popular characters. He wrote about 60 ballads — at least 70 according to the National Library of Wales. Dafydd Glyn Jones
Dafydd Glyn Jones (born 1941) is a Welsh scholar and lexicographer, born in the village of Carmel, Gwynedd. He is a specialist in Middle Welsh prose, and his other interests include Welsh history, Robert Jones, Rhoslan, and the life and work of Emrys ap Iwan. He was educated at Carmel Primary School and at Ysgol Dyffryn Nantlle, Penygroes, Gwynedd. He graduated from the University College of North Wales, Bangor and from Linacre College, Oxford. He spent many years as a lecturer and senior lecturer in Welsh Language and Literature at the University of Wales, Bangor. With his co-editor Bruce Griffiths he edited the Welsh Academy English-Welsh Dictionary (''Geiriadur yr Academi''). He retired from the university in 2000.
