Daffy Duck's Quackbusters
''Daffy Duck's Quackbusters'' is a 1988 animated compilation film featuring classic Warner Bros. Cartoons shorts and animated bridging sequences, starring Daffy Duck. The film was released to theaters by Warner Bros. on September 24, 1988. It was the final theatrical production in which Mel Blanc provided the voices of the various ''Looney Tunes'' characters before his death on July 10, 1989. Unlike previous compilation films, ''Quackbusters'' uses pre-existing music from older ''Looney Tunes'' shorts composed by Carl Stalling, Milt Franklyn and William Lava for both the new animation and classic footage. It was also one of the two compilation films of classic Warner Bros. cartoon shorts not composed by Robert J. Greg Ford is an animator, director, historian and consultant to Warner Bros. Animation. He is perhaps best known for directing the films ''Daffy Duck's Quackbusters'', ''Weezer Slander: The Movie'', and '' (Blooper) Bunny''. Dean Elliott
William Lorenzo Bunt (May 11, 1917 – December 31, 1999), known professionally as Dean Elliott, was an American television and film composer. Career Elliott was born William Lorenzo Bunt on May 11, 1917 in Sioux City, Iowa to George Leroy Bunt and Odessa Rouine Bolyard. Educated at the University of Wisconsin, Elliott's first composing work was for ''Four Star Revue'' an early comedy program which debuted in 1950. ''The Prize Pest'' is a 1951 Warner Bros. '' Looney Tunes'' cartoon directed by Robert McKimson, and written by Tedd Pierce. The cartoon was released on December 22, 1951, and stars Daffy Duck and Porky Pig. Plot After listening to one of his favorite radio programs, Porky Pig receives a grand prize from the station. Out of the gift box pops Daffy Duck, who insists on living in Porky's house. After numerous attempts to throw Daffy out of the house, Daffy devises a plan to stay. He tells Porky that he has a split personality (á la ''The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde''). ''Water, Water Every Hare'' is a 1952 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' cartoon directed by Chuck Jones. The cartoon was released on April 19, 1952 and stars Bugs Bunny. The short is a return to the themes of the 1946 cartoon '' Hair-Raising Hare'' and brings the monster Gossamer back to the screen. The title is a pun on the line "Water, water, everywhere / Nor any drop to drink" from the poem ''The Rime of the Ancient Mariner'', by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Bugs Bunny is an animated cartoon character created in the late 1930s by Leon Schlesinger Productions (later Warner Bros. Cartoons) and voiced originally by Mel Blanc. ''Daffy Dilly'' is a 1948 Warner Bros. ''Merrie Melodies'' cartoon directed by Chuck Jones. The cartoon was released on October 30, 1948, and stars Daffy Duck. ''The Night of the Living Duck'' is a six-minute 1988 '' Merrie Melodies'' cartoon starring Daffy Duck, directed by Greg Ford and Terry Lennon. It was released to theatres as a part of ''Daffy Duck's Quackbusters'' on September 24, 1988 and precedes the film in all of its releases. The title is a pun on ''Night of the Living Dead'', although the cartoon has nothing to do with said film's theme of a zombie apocalypse. This short was also one of Mel Blanc's final performances, as it was released less than a year before his death. Plot Daffy Duck, indulging in his comic book fandom in a sequence reminiscent of his earlier film ''The Great Piggy Bank Robbery'', is reading a scary comic book called "Hideous Tales" (issue #176).
