Daffodil Festival
The Daffodil Festival is a regional festival and royalty leadership program. The Grand Floral Parade is held in Pierce County, Washington every April. It consists of a flower parade and a year-long royalty program to select a festival queen from one of the 23 area high schools. Each year, the Royal Court spend thousands of hours promoting education, community pride and volunteerism in the county. Pierce County, Washington
Pierce County is a county in the U.S. state of Washington. As of the 2020 census, the population was 921,130, up from 795,225 in 2010, making it the second-most populous county in Washington, behind King County, and the 60th-most populous in the United States. The county seat and largest city is Tacoma. Formed out of Thurston County on December 22, 1852, by the legislature of Oregon Territory, it was named for U.S. President Franklin Pierce. Bethel High School is located in Spanaway, Washington. It is Bethel School District's oldest high school, dating back to 1952. Franklin Pierce High School is a public high school in Clover Creek, Washington (the facility has a Tacoma mailing address). It is named after the fourteenth US President, Franklin Pierce, who was president when the Washington Territory was formed in 1853. It is a part of the Franklin Pierce School District. Fife High School
Fife High School is located in Fife, Washington. FHS is the only high school in the Fife Public Schools system. History Fife High School initially consisted of the upper grades of the general Fife School, founded on December 23, 1899. In 1904, a two-story building was built in the same location, on Dyslin road. The high school was officially separated from the lower grades in 1930, when the new high school building was completed. A two room school was built in the site of the present high school. At that time, the official school colors of Royal blue and gold were chosen. Emerald Ridge High School is a high school in the Puyallup School District of Washington, United States and is commonly referred to as ERHS or simply ER. Emerald Ridge opened in September 2000. Eatonville is a town in Pierce County, Washington, United States. It is south of Tacoma. The population was 2,845 at the 2020 census. The town motto is "Better Together". History For centuries, Nisqually people roamed the rivers and streams of the Eatonville area. Leschi, one of the main leaders of Nisqually was born in this area in 1808. In 1889, Indian Henry was one of the Nisqually who guided the town's Euro-American founder, Thomas C. Van Eaton, from Mashell Prairie to the present site of Eatonville. Legend has it that upon arrival Henry declared, "This is a good place. Not much snow." Area white settlers and the accompanying Nisqually were in need of goods, which "T.C." provided at his trading post. University Place is a city in Pierce County, Washington, United States. Its population was 34,866 at the 2020 census. Based on per capita income, University Place ranks 81st of 522 areas in the state of Washington to be ranked. History University Place received its name in the 1800s when the University of Puget Sound, a private liberal-arts college in North Tacoma, purchased land along the primary north–south route of Grandview Drive. Curtis Senior High School is a public high school located in University Place, Washington. Curtis Senior High School is a part of the University Place School District and the only high school in the district. The University Place school district includes most of University Place and portions of Fircrest and Tacoma. History The school's namesake comes from the former UPSD Superintendent George R. Curtis. Clover Park High School
Clover Park High School (CPHS), located in Lakewood, Washington, is one of two secondary schools within the Clover Park School District. History The high school was established in 1938 due to the rapid expansion of nearby military posts at Fort Lewis. The cornerstone of the first Clover Park High School was laid June 28, 1938. According to the 1981 Clover Park yearbook, Klahowya, on February 23 of that year a fire destroyed the gym (where the fire had been started), the music center and the business department. Junior Alfred Shropshire was arrested and convicted for starting the fire. One wing of the original school is now used for the school district's Student Services Center.
