Daewoo Mirae
The Daewoo Mirae was a concept car that was unveiled on April 20, 1999, at Daewoo's Seoul design studio 'Design Forum' and then again at the 1999 Seoul Motor Show. "Mirae" in Korean means "future". Designed at Daewoo's UK Worthing Technical Centre, somewhat unusually it premiered in two forms: an exterior model, and a separate interior technology showcase model. Production was hinted to commence in 2010, but with the collapse of Daewoo Group in 2000 and the subsequent General Motors takeover, the concept car appears to be unlikely to be produced in the original form shown. Mirae was a joint funding exercise by the motor manufacturer and the UK Department of Trade and Industry, scheduled to coincide with the Queen's first state visit to Korea. The visit was organized to reinforce financial and technology links between the two countries. Concept Daewoo claimed that the Mirae would be the world's first versatile sports car combining the flexibility to alter seat layouts from 4 se ...

Since 1945, it has been divided at or near the 38th parallel, with North Korea (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) comprising its northern half and South Korea (Republic of Korea) comprising its southern half. Korea consists of the Korean Peninsula, Jeju Island, and several minor islands near the peninsula. The peninsula is bordered by China to the northwest and Russia to the northeast. It is separated from Japan to the east by the Korea Strait and the Sea of Japan (East Sea). During the first half of the 1st millennium, Korea was divided between three states, Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla, together known as the Three Kingdoms of Korea. In the second half of the 1st millennium, Silla defeated and conquered Baekje and Goguryeo, leading to the "Unified Silla" period. Meanwhile, Balhae formed in the north, superseding former Goguryeo. Unified Silla eventually collapsed into three separate states due to ...

DOHC
An overhead camshaft (OHC) engine is a piston engine where the camshaft is located in the cylinder head above the combustion chamber. This contrasts with earlier overhead valve engines (OHV), where the camshaft is located below the combustion chamber in the engine block. ''Single overhead camshaft'' (SOHC) engines have one camshaft per bank of cylinders. ''Dual overhead camshaft'' (DOHC, also known as "twin-cam".) engines have two camshafts per bank. The first production car to use a DOHC engine was built in 1910. Use of DOHC engines slowly increased from the 1940s, leading to many automobiles by the early 2000s using DOHC engines. Design In an OHC engine, the camshaft is located at the top of the engine, above the combustion chamber. This contrasts the earlier overhead valve engine (OHV) and flathead engine configurations, where the camshaft is located down in the engine block. The valves in both OHC and OHV engines are located above the combustion chamber; however an OHV ...

Mazda Lantis
The Mazda Lantis is a series of two cars sold in Japan from 1993 to 1998. In the rest of the world it was also known as 323F, Astina, Allegro Hatchback or Artis Hatchback. The Mazda Lantis used Mazda's CB platform, which means close relations to the Eunos 500/Xedos 6 and the 1994-1997 Mazda Capella. It was an FF layout car with either a manual or automatic transmission. The body variant is what Mazda called a "4-door coupé", which in common terminology is a 5-door hatchback. In Europe the 5-door hatchback was designated BA, but was actually almost identical to the CB, and had little to do with other B platforms. The 5-door was sold as the Mazda 323F in Europe, Artis in Chile and Allegro Hatchback (HB) in Colombia and a few other countries of Latin America. This model was penned by Ginger (Arnold) Ostle, who worked for Porsche before arriving at Mazda. The Mazda 323F features power steering, electrically adjustable mirrors, central locking and power windows. Another notice ...

Daewoo Musiro
The Daewoo Musiro (Korean for 'Any Time ow) was the penultimate concept vehicle to emerge from Daewoo's UK Worthing Technical Centre product development facility. Launched at the 2000 British Motor Show British International Motor Show the Musiro built on Daewoo's emerging 'Designed Around You' product mantra and was a distillation of the earlier and more advanced 1999 Mirae show car's Versatile Sports Car (VSC) concept. Concept Unlike the Mirae, the Musiro was based on a future Daewoo underbody but still included the kind of reconfigurable interior flexibility features more normally found in MPV's making the Musiro an especially advanced and innovative vehicle. The neat exterior reminded viewers of the Audi TT but the coupe lines disguised an innovative opening roof. The traditional issues of open top cars being less stiff than closed roof cars and folding 'hardtop cars' having little boot space was solved by Worthing's Daewoo designers - the roof panel and rear window articulat ...
