Dadafon
Dadafon (established in 1995 in Trondheim, Norway) was a Norwegian experimental jazz band, originally called Coloured Moods (name changed in 2000), initiated by drummer Martin Smidt, and including Kristin Asbjørnsen (vocals), Carl Haakon Waadeland (drums), Jostein Ansnes and Bjørn Ole Solberg. The band had African music influences. Lead singer Kristin Asbjørnsen brought an authority to their sound that many female rock singers may shy away from as she not only has the range to lead such a strong band of musicians, but also the vocal power to take their songs to new heights. They performed songs in Norwegian and English. Dadafon and Kristin Asbjønsen, performed most of the songs on the ''Factotum'' sound track, like ''slow day''. Kristin Asbjørnsen
Kristin Asbjørnsen (born 12 May 1971) is a Norwegian jazz singer and composer whose focus is on improvised music. She is known for musical projects like Dadafon including with Carl Haakon Waadeland, Krøyt, Kvitretten, and Nymark Collective among others. Career Asbjørnsen was born in Lillehammer and educated at the Jazz Program at the Trondheim Conservatory of Music, Norwegian Academy of Music and the University of Oslo, (in Norwegian) (in Norwegian) Her style has its roots in the singer-songwriter tradition and includes elements from African music, World music, spirituals and jazz. Kenneth Kapstad
Kenneth Kapstad (born 20 April 1979) is a Norwegian musician from Trondheim, known as the drummer of the band Gåte (2004–2005) and God Seed (2012–2015) and from collaborations within the bands Motorpsycho, Animal Alpha, Goat the Head and Monolithic. Career Kapstad was born in Løkken Verk. He attended the music program at Orkdal vgs., two years on Sund Folkehøgskole, a year at the conservatory in Agder Musikkonservatorium and four years on the Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium (2001–05). After the fenomenal success within Gåte, that ended just when it started to take off, Kapstad joined Motorpsycho duo guitarist Hans Magnus Ryan and bassist Bent Sæther in 2007. Carl Haakon Waadeland
Carl Haakon Waadeland (born 8 November 1952) is a Norwegian musicologist and jazz drummer, known from several bands and releases such as with Dadafon, Dum Dum Boys, Åge & Sambandet, Halvdan Sivertsen, Warne Marsh, Kenny Wheeler, Annbjørg Lien, Henning Sommerro, Bjørn Alterhaug, John Pål Inderberg, Knutsen & Ludvigsen, Mikis Theodorakis and Arja Saijonmaa. He was one of the driving forces behind the jazz program at NTNU which he also directed. Career Waadeland holds a master's degree in mathematics and PhD in music theory from the NTNU, where he concentrates on rhythm, swing, music performance (performologi), rhythm and movement, as a professor of Music. In his PhD thesis he developed simulation models of rhythm abnormalities (2000). Waadeland has performed and released several albums with jazz bands such as Bodega Band, Siri's Svale Band, and Dadafon (1995–2002). Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Factotum (film)
''Factotum'' is a 2005 French-Norwegian dark comedy-drama film co-written and directed by Bent Hamer, adapted from the 1975 novel of the same name by Charles Bukowski. It stars Matt Dillon as Bukowski’s alter ego, Henry Chinaski. Although events in the book take place in Los Angeles in the 1940s, the film has a contemporary setting.
