''D Magazine'' is a monthly magazine covering Dallas–Fort Worth. It is headquartered in Downtown Dallas. ''D Magazine'' covers a range of topics including politics, business, food, fashion and lifestyle in the city of Dallas. The first issue was published in October 1974 by its founders, Wick Allison and Jim Atkinson. History ''D Magazine'' was founded in 1974 by two University of Texas graduates, Wick Allison and Jim Atkinson. Lodowick Brodie Cobb "Wick" Allison (March 17, 1948September 1, 2020) was an American magazine publisher and author. He was the owner of ''D Magazine'', a monthly magazine covering Dallas–Fort Worth, which he co-founded in 1974. He was also the principal owner of People Newspapers, which he purchased in 2003. He served as president of the non-profit American Ideas Institute, publisher of ''The American Conservative''. Personal life Allison was born in Dallas, Texas, on March 17, 1948. He was a sixth-generation Texan. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1971. People Newspapers is a Dallas, Texas-based publisher of two award-winning monthly community newspapers, Park Cities People' and Preston Hollow People'. The two papers mail to a combined 43,700 homes and businesses in the Park Cities, Preston Hollow, Turtle Creek, Bluffview, Devonshire, and Greenway Parks neighborhoods.
