DWG KIA, commonly referred to as DAMWON KIA ( ko, 담원 기아) and formerly known as DAMWON Gaming (abbr. DWG; ko, 담원 게이밍, links=no), is a South Korean professional esports organization. Its ''League of Legends'' team competes in the LCK, the top-level league for the game in South Korea. DWG won their first LCK title on 5 September 2020 after defeating DRX in the 2020 LCK summer finals. Eight weeks later on 31 October 2020, Damwon won the 2020 World Championship after a dominant run through the group and knockout stages and a 3–1 victory over Suning in the grand finals. Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) is a South Korean esports organization based in Seoul, owned by Hanwha Life Insurance. 2021 LCK Season
The 2021 LCK season was the tenth season of South Korea's LCK, a professional esports league for the MOBA PC game ''League of Legends''. 2021 was also the first season LCK implemented their long-term partnership model. On 1 November 2020, Riot Korea announced the ten organizations that successfully signed the contract for LCK franchising model. The regular season format was double round robin. During the first round of the split, games were played five days per week, and for the second round, games took place four days a week. The spring split began on 13 January 2021 and concluded with the spring finals on 10 April 2021. The 2020 Mid-Season Streamathon was an esports live stream event hosted by Riot Games, featuring international competitions and exhibition matches from multiple regions.
