DIT GAA or Dublin Institute of Technology GAA was a Gaelic Athletic Association University Club in Dublin Institute of Technology County Dublin, Ireland. DIT's men's Gaelic football team compete in the Sigerson Cup and the O'Byrne Cup. DIT won its first Sigerson Cup in 2013, defeating UCC in the final by 3-08 to 0-08. The DIT team was managed by Sean Fox, Billy O'Loughlin and Des Newton. Team Captain in 2013 was All-Star defender Colin Walshe of Doohamlet County Monaghan. The team included Aidan O'Shea, Jason Doherty, Darran O'Sullivan, Mark Collins, Tomás O'Connor, Bryan Menton, Kevin O'Brien and a host of intercounty players from all across the country. Sigerson Cup
The Sigerson Cup is the trophy for the premier Gaelic football championship among Higher Education institutions (Universities, Colleges and Institutes of Technology) in Ireland. It traditionally begins in mid January and ends in late February. The Sigerson Cup competition is administered by Comhairle Ard Oideachais Cumann Lúthchleas Gael (CLG), the GAA's Higher Education Council. The Trench Cup is the second tier football competition, Corn na Mac Léinn the third tier and Corn Comhairle Ardoideachais the fourth tier. O'Byrne Cup
The Bord na Móna O'Byrne Cup is a Gaelic football competition organised by the Leinster GAA and first staged in 1954. The competition is named after Matt Byrne, a former Wicklow GAA club and county officer. By virtue of a quirk in translation, the Corn Uí Bhroin became known as the O'Byrne cup even though Matt had never used an 'O' in his surname. Byrne was born on February 14, 1870, was a native of Baltinglass and taught at the local national school on Chapel Hill. Deeply involved in GAA activities at any levels throughout his life, he was regarded as a good footballer in his youth as well as an excellent handballer. He was the first secretary of the Maurice Davins' club in Baltinglass and served as a member of the Wicklow County Board for over 50 years, mostly as county registrar. He was also his county's representative on Leinster and Central Councils and served as President of the Irish Handball Council from 1941-1944. He died on September 21, 1947. Aidan O'Shea (born 29 June 1990) is a Gaelic footballer who plays for Breaffy and the Mayo county team. He is captain of the senior team at Breaffy. Career O'Shea made his debut for the Mayo seniors against New York in 2009 and since then has been one of Mayo's best players, winning an All-Star in 2013 and playing in midfield in two All-Ireland football finals, the 2012 decider, which Mayo lost by 0–13 to 2–11 against Donegal and the 2013 decider, which Mayo lost by 1–14 to 2–12 against Dublin. Jason Doherty (born 21 November 1989) is a Gaelic footballer who plays for Burrishoole and the Mayo county team. He started at centre forward in the 2012 All-Ireland Final which Mayo lost by 0-13 to 2-11 against Donegal. He studied at NUI Galway and played for the university football team. Darran O'Sullivan (born 3 May 1986 in London, England) is a Gaelic footballer. He plays Gaelic football with his local club Glenbeigh-Glencar, his divisional side Mid Kerry and at senior level for the Kerry county team from 2005 until 2018. O'Sullivan captained Kerry to the All-Ireland title in 2009. Playing career Club While still in London, O'Sullivan began his under-age football career with Tír Chonaill Gaels. Kehoe Cup
The Kehoe Cup ( ; ga, Corn Mhic Eochaidh) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Leinster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association ( GAA) since 1977 for second- and third-tier inter-county teams in the province of Leinster in Ireland. Nowadays, teams from the provinces of Ulster and Connacht are eligible to compete; formerly, teams from third-level institutions within the three provinces also did. The competition runs each January. Sponsored by Bord na Móna, it is therefore officially known as the Bord na Móna Kehoe Cup. The Kehoe Cup is part of a series of GAA tournaments known as the Bord na Móna Leinster GAA Series, along with the Walsh Cup and the O'Byrne Cup.
