DD Madurai
Doordarshan Kendra Madurai was inaugurated on 15 August 2005. The centre broadcast its programs in 16 districts of Tamil Nadu in Tamil language. The service has been extended to the entire state in phased manner by installing Terrestrial Transmitters of different capacities (HPTs, LPTs, VLPTs) at different parts of the state. The local (DD Madurai) service caters to the needs of the populace living in the areas falling within the reach of a particular transmitter through area specific programmes in the local languages and dialects. DD Madurai presents a program by Sri Velakkudi Krishnan, about the meanings of Bhagavadh Gita. This narrowcast at 6.30 am and 6.30 PM also in DD Chennai, Podhigai TV. DD Free Dish (previously known as DD Direct Plus) is an Indian free-to-air satellite television provider. DD Free Dish DTH service is owned and operated by Public Service Broadcaster Prasar Bharati. It was launched in December, 2004. In March 2022, It has a reach of over 43 million households which is more than 25% of the total TV households in the country. DD Free Dish earns by selling slots to private broadcasters through e-auctions. Prasar Bharati (abbreviated as PB; Hindi: ''Praśar Bharati'', lit. Indian Broadcaster) is India's State media, state-owned public broadcaster, headquartered in New Delhi.
