DC Adventures
''DC Adventures'' is a superhero role-playing game published by Green Ronin Publishing in 2010 that is set in the DC Comics superhero universe. It uses the same game system as Green Ronin's third edition of ''Mutants & Masterminds''. Description ''DC Adventures'' sets out the rules for setting up and running a superhero campaign. It includes details of 14 DC superheroes, and 14 super villains. A number of notable areas from the DC universe are described, including cities such as Metropolis and Gotham City, countries such as Markovia and Zandia, alien planets such as Oa, and even different dimensions such as Earth-0 and The Dreaming. The ''DC Universe Roleplaying Game'' is a Legend System-based role-playing game set in the DC Comics universe and published by West End Games. History The game system had several supplementary publications in print during the 1999–2002 timeframe, including: * Sourcebooks, devoted to covering the key characters, organizations and technologies of the ''DC Universe'' setting. The ENNIE Awards (previously stylized as ENnie Awards) are awards for role-playing game (RPG) products (including game-related accessories, publications, and art) and their creators. The awards were created in 2001 by Russ Morrissey of EN World in partnership with Eric Noah's Unofficial D&D Third Edition News. The ceremony has been hosted at Gen Con in Indianapolis since 2002. Since 2018, EN World is no longer associated with the awards. The ENNIES comprise two rounds. In the first round, publishers submit their products for nomination. Entries are judged by five democratically elected judges. The nominated products are voted on by the public in the second round. RPGnet is a role-playing game website. It includes sections on wargaming, wargames, tabletop games and video games, as well as columns on gaming topics. RPGnet was founded in 1996 by Emma and Sandy Antunes, Shawn Althouse ( etrigan) and Brian David Phillips, as a way to unify a number of transient game sites. Gamemaster
A gamemaster (GM; also known as game master, game manager, game moderator, referee, or storyteller) is a person who acts as an organizer, officiant for regarding rules, arbitrator, and moderator for a multiplayer role-playing game. They are more common in co-operative games in which players work together than in competitive games in which players oppose each other. The act performed by a gamemaster is sometimes referred to as "Gamemastering" or simply "GM-ing". The role of a gamemaster in a traditional table-top role-playing game (pencil-and-paper role-playing game) is to weave the other participants' player-character stories together, control the non-player aspects of the game, create environments in which the players can interact, and solve any player disputes. The New 52
The New 52 is the 2011 revamp and relaunch by DC Comics of its entire line of ongoing monthly superhero comic books. Following the conclusion of the " Flashpoint" crossover storyline, DC canceled all its existing titles and debuted 52 new series in September 2011. Among the renumbered series were ''Action Comics'' and '' Detective Comics'', which had retained their original numbering since the 1930s. The relaunch included changes to the publishing format; for example, print and digital comics began to be released on the same day. New titles were released to bring the number of ongoing monthly series to 52. Various changes were also made to DC's fictional universe to entice new readers, including changes to DC's internal continuity to make characters more modern and accessible. Nelson Alexander Ross (born January 22, 1970) is an American comic book writer and artist known primarily for his painted interiors, covers, and design work. He first became known with the 1994 miniseries ''Marvels'', on which he collaborated with writer Kurt Busiek for Marvel Comics. Ray Winninger is a game designer who has worked on a number of roleplaying games, including the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' fantasy roleplaying game. He is the former Executive Producer for the Wizards of the Coast ''Dungeons & Dragons'' studio. Career Ray Winninger was a competitive chess player as a child, and at age nine he discovered Avalon Hill games and ''Dungeons & Dragons'' while looking for chess opponents at a local hobby shop/game store. He designed his first game as "a futuristic man-to-man miniatures system", and by age fourteen he had designed an enormous campaign world for the ''Dungeons & Dragons'' game system. Steve Kenson
Steve Kenson (born June 16, 1969) is a writer and designer of role-playing games (RPGs) and related fiction. Career Steve Kenson began working as an author and game designer in 1995. Kenson co-wrote the super-hero role-playing game ''Silver Age Sentinels'', which was published by Guardians of Order in 2002. While working on ''Silver Age Sentinels'', Kenson had pitched a setting called Freedom City for the game, but Guardians of Order turned it down. When Chris Pramas of Green Ronin Publishing asked Kenson if he would like to design a new d20-based superhero RPG, Kenson developed ''Mutants & Masterminds'' in 2002 and his ''Freedom City'' setting was published in 2003. In 2004, Kenson became the line developer for ''Mutants & Masterminds'', and became a more frequent contributor to Green Ronin's products.
