Double Bottom Line
Double bottom line (abbreviated as DBL or 2BL) seeks to extend the conventional bottom line, which measures fiscal performance—financial Profit (accounting), profit or loss—by adding a ''second'' bottom line to measure a for-profit business's performance in terms of positive social impact. There is controversy about how to measure the double bottom line, especially since the use of the term "bottom line" implies some form of quantification. A 2004 report by the Center for Responsible Business (University of California, Berkeley) noted that while there are "generally accepted principles of accounting" for financial returns, "A comparable standard for social impact accounting does not yet exist." Social return on investment has been suggested as a way to quantify the second bottom line, though defining and measuring social impact can prove elusive. The idea that for-profit corporations have an obligation to support social causes beyond their immediate interest in short-ter ...

Dunstan Baby Language
Dunstan Baby Language is a theory about infantile vocal reflexes as signals, in humans. The theory is that across cultures and linguistic groups there are five sounds, each with a meaning, that are used by infants before the language acquisition period. The hypothesis was developed by Australian former mezzo-soprano, Priscilla Dunstan, and has been featured on ''The Oprah Winfrey Show''. Dunstan's theory has not been scientifically validated. Dunstan's theory Between 0–3 months, infants make what Dunstan calls ''sound reflexes''. According to Dunstan, we all have reflexes, like sneezes, hiccups, and burps, that all have a recognizable pattern when sound is added to the reflex. There are other reflexes that all babies experience, and when sound is added to these, a distinct, preemptive "cry" will occur before the infant breaks into what Dunstan calls the hysterical cry. Dunstan states that these preemptive cries can indicate what the infant requires (e.g., ''food'', ''comfort'', ...

Drexel Burnham Lambert
Drexel Burnham Lambert was an American multinational investment bank that was forced into bankruptcy in 1990 due to its involvement in illegal activities in the junk bond market, driven by senior executive Michael Milken. At its height, it was a Bulge Bracket bank, as the fifth-largest investment bank in the United States. The firm had its most profitable fiscal year in 1986, netting $545.5 million—at the time, the most profitable year ever for a Wall Street firm, and equivalent to $ billion in . Milken, who was Drexel's head of high-yield securities, was paid $295 million, the highest salary that an employee in the modern history of the world has ever received. The firm's aggressive culture led many Drexel employees to stray into unethical, and sometimes illegal, conduct. Milken and his colleagues at the high-yield bond department believed the securities laws hindered the free flow of trade. Eventually, Drexel's excessive ambition led it to abuse the junk bond market a ...

Drawing Black Lines
''Drawing Black Lines'' is the second studio album by the American band Project 86. The success of their debut, especially the song "Pipe Dream", attracted the attention of several major record labels. Originally released on BEC Recordings on March 21, 2000, the album was reissued with Atlantic Records branding after the major label signed the band. Reception AllMusic has described the album as "a testimony to Christendom while musically driving a fist through traditional Christian thinking." Lyrically, the album takes a different thread from its predecessor, turning the mirror of introspection into a window viewing society at large. The music also shows significant gains in maturity as well, advancing from a rapcore sound to one classified as metalcore or alternative metal. One reviewer comments that "Moral lines are drawn beginning to end on this disc." Lyricist Andrew Schwab states that "''Drawing Black Lines'' is not just a catch phrase or an album title... When I am faced ...
