DBAG Class 481
The DBAG Class 481/482 is an electric multiple unit train for the Berlin S-Bahn. The class 481 was designed to replace the aging rail cars after the German reunification in 1990. The first mock-up models were presented in 1993 with the first rollout on 22 January 1996. History In 1990 most of the rail cars were still composed of mostly Class 475, 476 and 477 vehicles from before World War II. The average age was about 40 years at the time. Both the West Berlin and East Berlin S-Bahn operators had already started to replace their aging fleet with Class 480 (West) and Class 485 (East). The German reunification prompted a unification of the operators leading also to a requirement of a common operation scheme for the whole of Berlin. Berlin Westkreuz Station
Berlin Westkreuz (literally "Berlin West Cross") is a station in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin. It is served by the S-Bahn lines S3, S41, S42, S46, S5, S7 and S9 and so represents a major interchange point on the Berlin S-Bahn network. It lies at the opposite end of the Stadtbahn to Ostkreuz and is one of the four main stations on the Ringbahn (circle line). HKL Class M200
The HKL Class M200 is a class of metro trains in use on the Helsinki Metro, based on the DBAG Class 481 trains used on the Berlin S-Bahn. One train consists of two individually numbered cars. A total of 12 pairs (24 cars) were manufactured by Bombardier-DWA in Germany (with the electrical power drive systems manufactured by Alstom in France) during 2000–2001. In 2017, the City Council of Helsinki decided to refurbish the M100 and M200 fleets in order to extend their lifetime for another 10 years. DBAG Class 483
Deutsche Bahn Classes 483 and 484 are related fleets of electric multiple unit (EMU) trains ordered by German railway operator Deutsche Bahn for use on the Berlin S-Bahn system. They are designed and manufactured by a consortium of Stadler Rail and Siemens Mobility. The first units entered public service on 1 January 2021. DBAG Class 485
The DR Class 270 was an electric multiple unit of the Berlin S-Bahn. It was designed for the Deutsche Reichsbahn (East Germany) and was intended to be the replacement for the ageing fleet of S-Bahn units in East Berlin.
