Dayanand Anglo Vaidik Mahavidyalaya (D.A.V. College) is a college in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, established in 1919 by Lala Diwan Chand, is the second oldest college in the city. The college is situated in Civil Lines, opposite the Green Park Stadium. It is affiliated with Chhatrapati Sahu Ji Maharaj University (formerly Kanpur University), formerly with the University of Agra.The college is accredited by the Indian NAAC. Manas Pandey is present principal of this college. It is managed by the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College Trust and Management Society. Arya Samaj
Arya Samaj ( hi, आर्य समाज, lit=Noble Society, ) is a monotheistic Indian Hindu reform movement that promotes values and practices based on the belief in the infallible authority of the Vedas. The samaj was founded by the sannyasa, sannyasi (ascetic) Dayanand Saraswati on 7 April 1875. Arya Samaj was the first Hindu organization to introduce Proselytism, proselytization in Hinduism. Jaidev Kapoor
Jaidev Kapoor (24 October 1908 — 19 September 1994) was an Indian revolutionary who worked for the Hindustan Republican Association along with Chandra Shekhar Azad and Bhagat Singh. As a teenager, he was interested to join the HRA and later, he met Azad and became a comrade of Singh. Many biopics were made on Singh and Kapoor was also portrayed in them. Like, in ''The Legend of Bhagat Singh'' (2002), Kapoor was played by Sunil Grover and many more. Early life Jaidev was born in 1908 on Diwali eve in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh. Orissa High Court
The Orissa High Court is the High Courts of India, High Court for the Indian States and union territories of India, state of Odisha. The then Bengal Presidency was a vast province including present day Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, and West Bengal. It was difficult to administratively manage such a vast area, inhabited by people speaking in different languages and having different traditions. Mahavir Singh (revolutionary)
Mahavir Singh Rathore (16 September 1904 — 17 May 1933) was an Indian revolutionary and independence fighter in the 1930s. Singh was a member of Naujawan Bharat Sabha. He helped in the escape of Bhagat Singh, Batukeshwar Dutt and Durgawati Devi from Mozang House in Lahore. He was arrested as part of the Second Lahore Conspiracy Case and took part in the hunger strike of 1933 to protest the treatment of prisoners along with Mohit Moitra (convicted in Arms Act Case), Mohan Kishore Namadas (also convicted in Arms Act Case). and 30 others. Singh died on 17 May 1933 due to force feeding. Mohit Moitra and Mohan Kishore Namadas also died during the hunger strike. A statue was erected in front of the Cellular Jail in his honor.
