DART Light Rail is the light rail system serving the metropolitan area of Dallas, Texas and is owned and operated by Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). The DART Light Rail system opened June 14, 1996 and serves 65 stations and four lines, covering : the , the , the , and the . In , the system had a ridership of , or about per weekday as of . That makes it the 5th highest ridership of light rail systems in the United States; however, it was one of the worst financial performers. A transit village is a pedestrian-friendly mixed-use district or neighborhood oriented around the station of a high-quality transit system, such as rail or B.R.T. Mockingbird Station
SMU/Mockingbird station (originally Mockingbird station) is a DART Light Rail station in Dallas, Texas. It is located at Mockingbird Lane and North Central Expressway (US 75) in North Dallas. It opened in January 1997 and is a station on the Blue, Red, and Orange Lines, serving the Mockingbird Station mixed-use development and nearby Southern Methodist University (SMU). It is also the northernmost DART station serving both the Red and Blue lines; from this point the lines diverge with the Red line heading north and the Blue line heading northeast. Park Lane Station (Dallas)
Park Lane station is a DART Light Rail station in Dallas, Texas. It is located at Park Lane and Greenville Avenue, just east of Central Expressway, in North Dallas. It opened on January 10, 1997 and served as the northern terminus of the Red Line until July 1, 2002. The original station, which was at ground level, was replaced with an elevated station, the first of four on the DART Red Line. The nearby Walnut Hill station, of similar design, also opened with the current Park Lane station in July 2002. The original station is still present, however remains used for storage. Texas Stadium
Texas Stadium was an American football stadium located in Irving, Texas, a suburb west of Dallas. Opened on October 24, 1971, it was known for its distinctive hole in the roof, the result of abandoned plans to construct a retractable roof (Cowboys linebacker D. D.
